GETTiNG  \nsTarTEd  \nVISAS  \nAll international students without South African citizenship will need a valid study visa. Your study visa application should be submitted in your country of origin before you travel to South Africa.  \nHEALTH INSURANCE  \nThe South African Department of Home Affairs requires proof of medical cover registered with the South African Council for Medical Schemes in terms of the Medical Schemes Act, 1998, and paid annually for the duration of your studies. You will need this proof to be able to apply for your study visa and register at Stellenbosch University.  \nPlease note that Stellenbosch University is not affiliated to any particular health insurance provider. Therefore, any health insurance will be accepted, as long as it is registered in South Africa. For information on health insurance providers, please [visit www.sun.ac.za/international.
