This study identified distinct third-grade engagement profiles—Engaged, Cognitively/Affectively Disengaged, Behaviorally Disengaged, Disaffected—plus a high-absence class for males. Demographic attributes were associated with profile membership, and cluster affiliation related to later Math and Language Arts grades and male absences.
