Currently all detailing is done in house. Atthe time it becomes necessary to outsource detailing a procedure will have to be established. \nRESPONSIBILITIES: \nThe Engineering/Operations Manager, Project Engineer, Engineering Technicians and/or Detailers are responsible for adherence to this procedure. \nREFERENCES: \nAISC Detailing for Steel Construction & Quality Systems Manual, Section 4.4 \nEXHIBITS: \nA. Design Drawing Log \nG. Specification Log \nPROCEDURE: \n1. Drafting Standards for Structural Detailing \nStructural detail drawings will be drawn in compliance with the AISC Detailing for Steel Construction manual, and the following general requirements. \nThe drawing border, title block and bill of materials will be as shown in exhibit A. \nMEDFORD FABRICATION \nPROCEDURE NO.: SP 415 TITLE: Structural steel detailing \nstandards, checking procedure and document control \nPAGE 2 OF 2 \n2. Checking Procedure for Structural Detailing \nA detailed review of all features, welds, notes, dimensions and cut lists on all shop drawings shall be performed by a qualified checker other than the original detailer. The checker will place their initials in the title block labeled “checked”. \n3. Document Control Procedure for Structural Detail Drawings \nA. Submit drawing to customer for approval. \nAfter a detail drawing is finished, it shall be submitted to the customer for approval before any fabrication begins. This submittal may be a hard copy or electronic CAD file. All submittals to the customer will be made with an EIT (engineering information transmittal, see exhibit B) . \nHard copies of drawings will be stamped with the “for approval” stamp (exhibit C) so the customer has the option of redlining the prints or checking the approved box. Regardless of the method of drawing submittal (hard copies, electronic files) or the method of customer’s response (email, fax, letter, marked up drawings) some form or written approval must be received before the drawing can be released for fabrication. \nB. Release drawing to project coordinator for fabrication \nAfter the customer approves a detail drawing, it will be stamped with the “approved for manufacture” stamp (exhibit D) and released to the project coordinator for fabrication. \nC. Shop Drawing Log \nA shop drawing log (exhibit E) shall be maintained on each project showing the drawing number, description, current revision, date submitted for approval, date approval was received from customer, current approval status and the date the drawing was released for fabrication. \nD. Design Drawing Log \nA design drawing log (exhibit F) shall be maintained on each project listing the customer’s design drawings, the current revision, the current status and the date of receipt. \nE. Specification Log \nA specification log (exhibit G) shall be maintained on each project listing the customer’s applicable specifications, addendums and written requirement lists. This log will show the current revision, the current status and the date of receipt. This log shall be distributed to the Quality Control Manager, Engineering/Operations Manager, Project Engineer, Engineering Technician, Detailers, Production Coordinator and Salesperson.","cbCaipX8UTRplJ0J","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaipX8UTRplJ0J","pdf",69390,"English","# Purpose\n# Responsibilities\n# References\n# Exhibits\n# Procedure\n## Drafting Standards for Structural Detailing\n## Checking Procedure for Structural Detailing\n## Document Control Procedure for Structural Detail Drawings","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of procedure SP 415?\",\"answer\":\"It outlines detailing standards, checking procedures, and document control for structural steel projects detailed by Medford Fabrication.\"},{\"question\":\"Who performs the checking for structural detailing?\",\"answer\":\"A qualified checker other than the original detailer reviews all features, welds, notes, dimensions, and cut lists, and places initials in the “checked” title block.\"},{\"question\":\"How does document control work before fabrication?\",\"answer\":\"A finished drawing must be submitted to the customer for approval and must receive written approval before release for fabrication.
