Some people returned to the same well, and her attacker was one of those people. Staying with the tried and true seemed good on paper but in reality, it gave her an advantage. Every week was the same, and she wondered why she didn’t switch up her partner to experience something new. She was almost blinded in surprise by her opponent attempting a roundhouse kick for the first time ever. If the kick connected, she’d be winded and her defence would be down. She hadn’t lost before and she couldn’t lose now. Her hands gripped the ankle and her foot swept the floor which struck her opponent’s ankle and knocked her off balance. She used the momentum to drag her opponent to the floor in a headlock.  \nA voice boomed from the other side of the hall; a chastising tone was directed at the young woman who continuously forgot which fighting style she was practicing. It wasn’t wrestling, according to her coach.  \nAna Sofia Gurrero-Harewood sheepishly apologised to her coach. She scampered away from her target and jumped to her feet. Her mind wandered back to the fight and how her surroundings had changed thanks to her overactive imagination. There was no drab gym hall of the leisure centre. It was replaced with a secret basement of a creaky old house belonging to a masked serial killer. Her best friend morphed into the killer and Ana believed this was their third act fight in her imaginary horror movie. She had to the Final Girl and in this scenario, she would have won, but her bset friend was no killer and she assumed any serial killer worth their salt would be a better fighter.  \nSomeone coughed to tear her from her fantasy. She glanced down at the girl with the dirty blonde hair. Her best friend’s arms and legs were stretched out like a starfish and she swiped them forward and backwards as if she was making snow angels.  \n“What are you doing?” Ana asked. Anyone else watching would be laughing at Jodie Jones, rather than with her, but Ana was used to the girl’s silliness. A trait they shared in common, though while Jodie was immature silly, Ana was, in her best friend’s words, a silly cookie lost in her murderous thoughts like some spawn of Satan. Ana took offence to the description. If she was the spawn of Satan, she imagined herself as a killer, tearing down any fool who got in her way. In her imagination, she was always the Final Girl, the hero of the story who kicked the villain’s arse and lived to tell the story…until another killing spree started and somehow the dead villain was alive again.  \n“Chilling like a,” Jodie said but she stopped.
