Republic,Hungary,Kosovo,Luxembourg,Slovak Republic,Slovenia, and Türkiye \n106ʰMeeting of the Development Committee \nOctober 14,2022 \nWashington,DC \nFirst and foremost,we would like to express our appreciation to the staff of the World Bank Group(WBG)who are working hard to achieve the WBG's long-term mission to end extreme poverty and boost sharedprosperity in extremely challenging times of multiple crises. We congratulate the WBG for achieving arecord level of commitments in FY22 with increased focus on the most vulnerable countries and regions, and we welcome the projections for FY23 while stressing the importance of ambitious developmentoutcomes. \nWe appreciate the joint WBG and IMF efforts to organize the IMF/WBG Annual Meetings 2022 in-personfor the first time since the emergence of COVID-19.Bringing together all stakeholders provides anopportunity for enhanced collaboration to find collective solutions to global challenges. While we areencouraged by this opportunity,we must remain vigilant.Unequal access to vaccines leads to wideninginequality, therefore,we remain supportive of the WBG's work in increasing COVID-19 vaccine rolloutand uptake.More broadly, strengthening health systems and improving access to health services for allshould remain a key priority. \nOn the operational side,we welcome the increase in mission travels and in-person engagementopportunities. We emphasize the importance of the WBG's physical presence on the ground and the movetowards an increased global footprint. In this regard,we thank all WBG country office staff for theirimmense efforts throughout the pandemic in keeping our business running and ensuring project preparationsand oversight. \nWe strongly condemn Russia's unprovoked and unjustified military aggression against Ukraine. We fullysupport Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and call for peace. We are deeply saddened by theloss of human lives and livelihoods, and the ongoing destruction of infrastructure which willhave long-lasting adverse effects. We wish to express our deepest solidarity with all the people suffering from thisterrible and unnecessary conflict. The damages of the prolonged war are felt globally through risingcommodity prices, especially for food and energy. The war also led to a sharp slowdown in global economicactivity, risking the emergence of a global recession. Therefore,a speedy resolution of the war throughdiplomatic channels is paramount in addition to strengthened international cooperation and multilateralism. We commend WBG Management for the swift crisis response and a continuous, strong commitment to thepeople of Ukraine. We also highly appreciate the immediate assistance, including fast-disbursing financingand options to mobilize additional resources,as well as ways to help neighboring and other affectedcountries given the war's broader economic and social impact. In addition,we appreciate the strongcollaboration and coordination with the IMF and other IFls and urge the WBG to continue the closemonitoring of evolving risks and spillover effects. We also commend the WBG for taking a leading role inthe Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment,in collaboration with the Government of Ukraine and the \nEuropean Commission,in order to mobilize financing for reconstruction and recovery. The globaldevelopment community shall stand united in finding the best solutions","cbCaioDxrBJGFwN8","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaioDxrBJGFwN8","pdf",506425,1,5,"English","en",105,"# Development Committee meeting statement\n## Appreciation
