Financial support from the EU and its Member States has reached EUR 120 billion, including through the Ukraine Facility that provides comprehensive and predictable financial support for Ukraine’s recovery, reconstruction, and modernisation. We welcome the World Bank’s (WBG) support to Ukraine and continue to work closely with our international partners directly and indirectly to support Ukraine and further increase collective pressure on Russia to end its war of aggression.  \nThe EU will also continue to call for an end to hostilities in Gaza, without delay or conditions, which would lead to an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and a significant and sustained increase in the flow of humanitarian assistance in Gaza. We are committed to lasting and sustainable peace in accordance with United Nations resolutions, on the basis of the two-state solution. As the largest international donor to the Palestinians, the EU is well positioned to lead the process of stabilisation, reconstruction and development in Gaza after hostilities stop. The European Commission is working towards an ambitious multi-annual package to stabilise the Palestinian Authority. All of this is essential to ensure security for both Israelis and Palestinians.  \nThese conflicts show one thing very clearly: our world has radically changed in the last few years, becoming more unstable and complex. We have seen the proliferation of global challenges such as climate change, poverty and inequality, conflict and fragility. These require global solutions found through multilateral collaboration. This was true 80 years ago when the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) were born, and it is true today.  \nThere is an ever more urgent need to accelerate the delivery of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) . The EU stands fully committed to achieving the SDGs both through its internal action and through the implementation of its Global Gateway investment strategy. It is important that our International Financial Architecture (IFA) can address global challenges. The EU will continue to constructively engage in the discussions on the reform of the international financial architecture, as well as the implementation of the Pact for the Future. The EU commends the World Bank’s leadership with its Evolution Roadmap and will continue to constructively engage in discussions to build a ‘Future-Ready World Bank Group’. We need to deliver with ambition and maximum impact.  \nFirst, close and transparent collaboration among all multilateral partners remains instrumental to deliver on this reform agenda. We need better, bigger, and more effective MDBs. This means stronger partnership and cooperation among MDBs to work better as a system, and more collaboration at country level – for instance by stepping up the implementation of country platforms. In this regard, I welcome the co-financing platform hosted by the WBG which will promote synergies between MDBs, including through strengthening the collaboration of the EIB and EBRD with the WBG.
