\nOver a year and a half ago,Russia launched its unprovoked and unjustified war of aggression againstUkraine.Since then,Russia has systematically showed that it will not shy away from weaponising food andenergy at the expense of our most vulnerable partners,targeting civilians,making nuclear threats andspreading false narratives about the war.  \nThe EU will continue to stand by Ukraine for as long as it takes,united with our Member States.Collectively with the EU Member States and European financial institutions,we have mobilised over EUR82 billion so far in financial,humanitarian,emergency,and military support.We continue to work veryclosely with our international partners to support Ukraine directly and indirectly and further increasecollective pressure on Russia to end its war of aggression.The EU supports a comprehensive,just,anddurable peace in Ukraine that will uphold all the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter.  \nI also want to express the EU's deep-felt solidarity with our host,Morocco,in the wake of the tragicearthquake which happened just last month.We stand in full support with the Moroccan people and offerour condolences to the families of the victims.With our international partners,we stand ready to provideall the necessary support.  \nThis kind of natural disaster is an example of what we have increasingly faced in recent years.Frequentnatural disasters,loss of biodiversity,pandemics,hunger,war and conflict,fragility:these globalchallenges disproportionately impact the most vulnerable people in our partner countries in Africa,Asiaand Latin America and the Caribbean,and existing international structures are currently not fit to properlysupport them.  \nHence,we all agreed last year that our global development finance architecture needs a revamping.This is a necessity in the face of these global challenges and to get the Sustainable Development Goals backon track.  \nMuch has already happened,in particular on the evolution of the Multilateral Development Banks(MDBs).We welcome the progress made by the World Bank Group on its Evolution Roadmap.With a new missionand vision statement,some changes to its financing model already presented in the Spring Meetings in Apriland new measures to be announced this week,the process is well on track.  \nBut more must be done,and the EU is actively contributing to the discussions.The EU will push for MDBreform to remain high on the agenda.  \nFirst and foremost,we continue to promote a principled approach.The evolution process must not divertresources away from the poorest countries or attention away from the original mandate of poverty reduction.Eradicating poverty and tackling global challenges are mutually reinforcing.Tackling global challengeswill require a true system approach to ensure all resources have the maximum development impact toachieve the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).We therefore need stronger partnership andcoordination among MDBs,especially at country level,also in cooperation with regional and nationaldevelopment banks as well as the UN agencies and the International Monetary Fund(IMF).The protectionof our poorest partners must be at the centre of everything we do.  \nMore resources are needed to support the most vulnerable,including vulnerable middle-income countries.We count on the World Bank,the IMF and other MDBs to step up this
