The need for a strong multilateral system is greater than ever. The EU and its Member States remain committed to the rules-based multilateral system, founded on universal values, that adheres to international agreements.  \nThe EU welcomes international efforts to end Russia’s full-scale war of aggression against Ukraine and achieving a just and lasting peace and security for Ukraine. In coordination with the United States and other like-minded partners, we will continue to provide support to Ukraine as it exercises its right to selfdefence, and we will continue supporting Ukraine on its path towards EU membership. We value the strong support provided by the IMF and the World Bank to Ukraine in addressing the country’s critical immediate fiscal needs and sustaining its reconstruction efforts.  \nThe EU is and remains a steadfast supporter of peace in the Middle East. We welcome the 20-point plan on Gaza. Putting emphasis first on the ceasefire and urgent humanitarian aid delivery is a constructive foundation for reducing suffering on the ground in the short term. Achieving demilitarisation and effective transitional governance is vital and will require careful coordination of stakeholders’ engagement. The EU stands ready to contribute to this effort. Our engagement through the Palestine Donor Group, together with regional partners, will be crucial, including on supporting the recovery and reconstruction of Gaza, when conditions allow. The EU will continue supporting the two-state solution. Outlining a clear political horizon for Palestinians is essential for the plan’s successful implementation.  \nTogether with the Member States in a Team Europe approach, the EU provides 42% of global development aid and 28% of humanitarian aid. We are also the biggest contributors to IDA. As a leading donor, we have long been at the forefront of supporting global efforts to promote sustainable development and tackle crises worldwide. We stick to our commitments.  \nThe EU has been actively engaged in the strengthening of the International Financial Architecture to address better the global and development challenges, and we will continue to do so. We can only address our common challenges by working together as states, international organisations, civil society, private sector or social partners.  \nReforming the Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) has the potential to increase their lending capacity by USD 600 billion over the next decade, and improvements shall continue with the implementation of the G20 Roadmap for Bigger, Better and More Effective MDBs.  \nWe call on the MDBs and other international financial institutions to work with partner countries towards the creation of job-rich, sustainable and resilient economies. This starts with creating an enabling environment to attract private investments and facilitate the creation of decent jobs, while ensuring proper consideration of fragile and conflict-affected contexts.  \nWe reiterate the need to mobilise private finance towards sustainable development and the achievement of the Agenda 2030 and SDGs.
