Introduction \n1. The global economy is navigating a complex landscape marked by overlapping challenges and exceptionally high uncertainty occasioned by trade policy shifts. These challenges are interconnected, requiring not only coordinated but also bold, innovative responses, and solutions that transcend traditional boundaries. In Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), growth remains insufficient to reduce extreme poverty, and the region faces acute unemployment challenges particularly among the youth and women. \n2.We commend Management for strategically positioning the World Bank Group (WBG) to respond with urgency and agility to the multiple, unprecedented, and complex global challenges. These challenges, ranging from uneven growth, climate change, food insecurity, debt distress, conflicts and fragility, trade disruption and uncertainties, require collaborative and result driven approaches. The consequences have been particularly acute in SSA, where weak macroeconomic fundamentals, rising climate risk, heightened fragility, and deepening inequality continue to constrain progress and job creation. \n3. The WBG remains a major partner in supporting Africa’s objectives to eradicate poverty and boost prosperity. With $186 billion in commitments in FY25, streamlined processes for faster project delivery, and bold initiatives such as Mission 300 and the historic IDA21 replenishment, the WBG has demonstrated resolve to deliver impact at scale and speed with efficiency and effectiveness – creating jobs, mobilizing private capital, and advancing prosperity on a livable planet. \nB. Jobs-Centered WBG Operations \n4. We welcome the WBG’s prioritization of the first pillar-foundational infrastructure-of the three-pillar approach to job creation. Partnering with governments and the private sector to establish and invest in foundational infrastructure is critical to job creation. The identification of five job-rich sectors-energy, agribusiness, healthcare, tourism, and value-added manufacturing –is commendable. Collectively, these sectors have the potential to create jobs at scale while strengthening the foundations for inclusive and resilient growth. We call on the WBG to address job creation in the informal sector through a multi-pronged strategy that emphasizes improving the overall business climate, providing skills and training, and providing financing and social protection programs for vulnerable groups. \n5. We call on the WBG to continue supporting investment in quality infrastructure and human capital for job creation, especially in SSA. Forecasts indicate that 1.2 billion youth will be entering the job market in the next 10 years, yet the projected available jobs over the same period are only four hundred million, leaving millions without employment. We stress the urgency of proactive action to avert instability, fragility, and displacement. We acknowledge the contributions by entrepreneurs and innovators in job creation and welcome the WBG’s emphasis on skills and employability programs. In this regard, we call for greater focus on inclusivity, particularly jobs for women, youth, and the marginalized communities, especially in Fragile, Conflict, and Violence (FCV) situations and small states. \n6. We reiterate the need to scale up technical and vocational education and training (","cbCaibglKcgWsaTk","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaibglKcgWsaTk","pdf",189418,1,6,"English","en",105,"# A.
