Towards A PostPandemic Approach”, which focuses on helping to mobilize international and domestic resources, private capital, official public finance, and knowledge at scale to further step up the WBG’s role in leveraging climate finance.  \nWe also welcome the paper “Prevention, Preparedness, and Response. The WBG’s Role in Future Crises”, which delivers a comprehensive summary of the Bank’s response during this once-in-a-century crisis caused by the pandemic and lessons learned from past experience. It also sets a framework for the WBG to support member countries and brings important lessons that are crucial to prepare the Bank for future crises.  \nImplementing a post-pandemic green recovery and Middle-Income Countries (MICs)  \nWe support the emphasis placedby the WBG on a “green recovery”. Looking ahead, prioritizing sustainable development is crucial. Yet, achieving a more equitable, inclusive, and sustained global recovery must be incorporated in the context of the WBG’s development mandate and requires to be aligned to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Agenda. Furthermore, in order to accomplish a post-pandemic recovery building more inclusive, just and sustainable economies, it is paramount to support affordable and equitable access to vaccines, which is at this time the most critical global public good. In this sense, we are now hopeful that the WB working with COVAX, will be able to accelerate COVID-19 vaccines supply for developing countries through the new financing mechanism that builds on Gavi’s newly designed costsharing arrangement.  \nAs it was stated at the Spring Meetings 2021 about GRID paper,“targeting any one of the global challenges in isolation is likely to be less effective than a coordinated response to their interacting effects”. Thus, the main challenge is to implement the GRID approach while integrating development, poverty reduction, inequality, and climate change actions.  \nThe GRID paper makes multiple references to MICs about the impact of the pandemic on poverty and inequality in this country group, as well as their relevance for the implementation of the GRID. In fact, the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region has been the most impacted by the pandemic in terms of real GDP contraction (-7.0% for 2020) . This has been accompanied with significant employment losses, jointly with the fact that the more vulnerable segments of the population have borne the brunt of the crisis. Eight out of 10 new poor are in MICs, and in LAC the poverty level has increased by 24 million people by the end of 2020 compared to previous year (from 30.3% to 33.7% of the total population) .  \nThe document also shows that MICs face new risks and vulnerabilities related to climate change that might result in major and permanent setbacks on progress achieved before the pandemic. For LAC, climate change  \nand environment degradation pose urgent and growing challenges. Changes in sea level, temperature and rainfall patterns, and the number and severity of extreme weather events are affecting economies and households throughout this region.
