Energy price and supply shocks are likely to slow growth, cause job losses, boost inflation, and worsen food insecurity, particularly in low-income countries. Amidst global turmoil, the rules-based multilateral order supported by decisive and effective multilateral institutions is more critical than ever. We strongly appreciate the World Bank Group’s (WBG) swift operational response through knowledge and targeted financing to support recovery, sustainable growth and job creation.  \nOur Constituency also acknowledges the WBG’s indispensable role as a vector for peace through its expanded mandate adopted in 2023 to support countries’ long-term development while protecting and promoting global public goods. We are committed to upholding international and humanitarian law - in Ukraine, in the Middle East, in Central Africa, Sudan and beyond-which is integral to our collective peace and prosperity. We commend the WBG’s strong and sustained efforts to support Ukraine in the face of Russia’s war of aggression and stand united to achieve a just and lasting peace in line with the UN Charter. We also express our appreciation for the WBG’s steadfast support to West Bank and Gaza while preparing for its recovery and reconstruction. As we aspire to reach a lasting and sustainable peace-based on the two-state solution-we encourage the WBG to further its efforts together with its partners, including the UN, in support of the livelihoods of the Palestinian people and the reconstruction of Gaza, while fully respecting the unity of the Palestinian territories and working in close cooperation with the Palestinian Authority.  \nCreating the Enabling Environment for More and Better-Paid Jobs  \nWe appreciate the further deepening ofthe WBG’s jobs strategy underpinned by the three-pillar approach and welcome the focus on the business-enabling environment. We believe the WBG has a strong comparative advantage in bringing about ambitious and transformative reforms that create business climates that are simple, predictable and supportive of entrepreneurship while upholding environmental and social safeguards and protecting human health, even under increasing pressure to address short-term needs.  \nAs we anchor reforms in sector compacts to drive our ambitious 2030 outcome targets, it will be critical to tap into the full breadth of the WBG’s sectoral, regional and country-specific knowledge and operational experience.
