After a series of shocks over the past years, followed by the swiftest surge in interest rates of developed economies in four decades, the global inflation recedes, but brought additional difficulties for developing countries when accessing short-and long-term financing. The outlook for developing nations remains precarious, as there are severe challenges related to poverty, hunger, inequalities, increasing number of economies marked by escalating risks of debt distress, a growing frequency of extreme climate events, heightened geopolitical tensions, and persistent situations of fragility, violence and conflicts.  \nAt this point, cataloging and prioritizing the serious problems affecting global development may seem unnecessary to an attentive observer of reality. However, it should be noted that even the simple act of listing facts can persuade even the most apathetic and indifferent individuals.  \nFirstly, the gap of inequality is not only widening rapidly but also posing an increasingly severe threat to the well-being of both current and future generations. Consider that two centuries ago, the wealthiest individuals earned an income 18 times greater than that of the poorest. Today, amid the fourth industrial revolution, this disparity has significantly increased. According to the World Inequality Report, the top 10% of earners now control 76% of global wealth, in stark contrast to the bottom 50%, who collectively possess a mere 2% . The situation becomes even more critical when considering the most harrowing consequences of poverty and extreme poverty: hunger. As reported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, over 700 million people worldwide are affected by this condition. This alarming statistic highlights a concerning trend: the international community has become complacent, mistakenly accepting it as an inevitable part of nature. This is a misconception, however, as inequality, poverty, and hunger are not natural inevitabilities but rather social constructs.  \nSecondly, the looming climate crisis poses complex threats not only to the integrity of natural ecosystems but also to the socio-economic frameworks essential for global communities. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has underscored the urgent nature of this crisis, highlighting that to avoid surpassing a 1.5°C increase in global temperatures above pre-industrial levels—a scenario fraught with dire consequences for future generations, ecosystems, and infrastructure—decisive action is required before the decade's end. Achieving this goal demands profound and widespread changes in economic structures, alongside innovative strategies for the allocation and management of financial resources.
