Despite increased attention to racial disparities in health, wellbeing, and academic outcomes—especially for Black, Latine, 1 and Native American children and children from lowincome households—little progress has been made in identifying the root causes of those disparities and, more importantly, identifying equitable policies and strategies to mitigate centuries of oppression and systemic inequities. In particular, the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic illustrated how structural racism and other systemic inequities \nresult in unequal impacts based on race, place, and class. Thus, there is a need to ensure that policies are developed with a racial equity and economic justice lens to activate and support transformation during children’s early years, especially for those populations that have been historically marginalized and underrepresented. \n1 Consistent with experts in the field, we use Latine to refer to individuals whose cultural background originated in Latin America. Rather than using Latinx, a term Spanish speakers find unpronounceable in Spanish, we have opted to use the gender-inclusive term Latine, commonly used throughout Spanish-speaking Latin America. Sometimes, we use the term Hispanic if used by a particular study or report. \nSTART WITH EQUITY: NC EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION EQUITY ANALYSES PROJECT OCTOBER 2023 4 \nFunded ","cbCaifOrTGKColnQ","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaifOrTGKColnQ","pdf",17393723,79,"English","# EXECUTIVE SUMMARY\n# INTRODUCTION\n# CHILD OPPORTUNITY INDEX\n## Early Care and Education Programs\n## Childhood Opportunity Across North Carolina\n## DISPROPORTIONALITY ANALYSIS\n# VOICES FROM THE FIELD\n# SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS\n# RECOMMENDATIONS\n# APPENDIX A: 14 Priorities to Dismantle Systemic Racism in Early Care and Education\n# APPENDIX B: Summary Table of COI and ECE in North Carolina\n# APPENDIX C: Disproportionality Index Subsidy\n# APPENDIX D: Disproportionality Index NC Pre-K/Title 1\n# APPENDIX E: Early Intervention CDSAs","[{\"question\":\"What framework guides the project’s equity priorities?\",\"answer\":\"The work is framed by “Start with Equity: 14 Priorities to Dismantle Systemic Racism in Early Care and Education,” which informs its focus on dismantling systemic racism across early care and education systems.\"}]","START WITH EQUITY: NC Early Childhood Education Equity Analyses Project | PDF",1792049138,199]
