Little League Field \nNot drawn to scale \nHow to convert a standard Little League field to a Little League Intermediate (50/70) Baseball Division field \nStandard Little League Field \nNot drawn to scale \nThis presentation will explain the step‐by‐step process of converting a \nstandard Little League field, so that it can also be used for the Little League Intermediate (50/70) Baseball Division. \nA standard Little League field has base paths of 60 feet, and a pitching distance of 46 feet (measured from the back point of home plate to the front edge of the pitcher’s plate) . \nThe distance from the back point of home plate to the outfield fence should be at least 200 feet, but not more than 275 feet, for a field that will be used for both the standard 46‐60 Little League Division, and the Intermediate League. \nGrass to be removed \nNot drawn to scale \nExtending the “Skin” Area \nIn this first section, part of the outfield grass is removed, which will extend the clay area of the infield. \nStake goes here \nNot drawn to scale \nExtending the “Skin” Area \nDrive a stake into the ground at the center of the back edge of the pitcher’s plate . \nNot drawn to scale \nExtending the “Skin” Area \nExtend the measuring tape (or 69‐foot chain/rope) 69 feet until it intersects with one of the foul lines as shown. \nWhite Paint or chalk, 69 feet from back of pitcher’s plate \nNot drawn to scale \nExtending the “Skin” Area \nUsing eco‐friendly field marking paint or chalk, create an arc through the outfield grass to the other foul line, maintaining the 69‐foot distance from the back of the pitcher’s plate . \nRemove Grass \nNot drawn to scale \nExtending the “Skin” Area \nUsing a sod‐cutter (ideally), remove the grass inside the arc. Replace soil with clay or infield mix. \nNew bases \nNot drawn to scale \nAdding New Bases \nThe anchors for three new bases will need to be installed underground. First, second and third base at all levels are required to disengage their anchor. \nDistance from outside edge of \nfirst and third base to CENTER of second base: \n70 feet. \nNot drawn to scale \nDistance from back point of home plate to outside edge of first and third base: 70 feet \nAdding New Bases \nThe distances between bases for Intermediate League layout are shown. \nDistance from back point of home plate to CENTER of second base: 99 feet. \nNot drawn to scale \nAdding New Bases \nThe distances between bases for Intermediate League layout are shown.","cbCaimoPJF6bJpyg","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaimoPJF6bJpyg","pdf",424184,17,"English","# Converting a Standard Little League Field to Intermediate (50/70)\n## Field dimensions and fence requirements\n## Extending the “Skin” area\n## Adding new bases and layout distances","[{\"question\":\"What are the standard base path and pitching distance measurements before conversion?\",\"answer\":\"A standard Little League field uses 60-foot base paths and a 46-foot pitching distance measured from the back point of home plate to the front edge of the pitcher’s plate.\"},{\"question\":\"How should the outfield grass be adjusted to extend the infield “skin” area?\",\"answer\":\"Remove part of the outfield grass by marking an arc that keeps a 69-foot distance from the back of the pitcher’s plate, then remove the grass inside the arc and replace soil with clay or infield mix.\"},{\"question\":\"What distances and base layout requirements apply for the Intermediate (50/70) field?\",\"answer\":\"For the Intermediate layout, base spacing includes 70 feet from the outside edge of first and third bases to the center of second base, 70 feet from the back of home plate to the outside edge of first and third bases, and 99 feet from the back of home plate to the center of second base.\"}]","Standard Little League Field - How to Convert to Little League Intermediate (50/70) Baseball Division | PDF",43]
