One player secretly records calculations using numbers from three dice, then reveals the final answer for others to reverse-engineer the full series. Players score based on matching answers, correct work, and valid challenges, then verify by entering everyone’s steps into a scientific calculator.",{"@graph":69,"@context":122},[70,84,105],{"@type":71,"itemListElement":72},"BreadcrumbList",[73,77,79,82],{"item":74,"name":75,"@type":76,"position":8},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":78,"name":9,"@type":76,"position":14},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/",{"item":80,"name":20,"@type":76,"position":81},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/exam/",3,{"item":83,"name":65,"@type":76,"position":19},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/spot-the-calculation-dice-game-6th-grade-math-games/634121/",{"url":83,"name":65,"@type":85,"image":86,"author":91,"headline":65,"publisher":94,"fileFormat":97,"inLanguage":63,"description":67,"dateModified":98,"datePublished":99,"encodingFormat":97,"isAccessibleForFree":100,"interactionStatistic":101},"DigitalDocument",{"url":87,"@type":88,"width":89,"height":90},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/spot-the-calculation-dice-game-6th-grade-math-games/634121.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":92,"@type":93},"WPS_1786070896","Person",{"url":74,"name":95,"@type":96},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-10-31","2026-10-22",true,{"@type":102,"interactionType":103,"userInteractionCount":81},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":104},"ViewAction",{"@type":106,"mainEntity":107},"FAQPage",[108,114,118],{"name":109,"@type":110,"acceptedAnswer":111},"How does the game start and what materials are needed?","Question",{"text":112,"@type":113},"Each round uses 3 dice, paper for recording calculations, and a scientific calculator. Player 1 must record their calculations secretly on a piece of paper, using brackets where necessary. \n- Player 1 then tells their ‘answer’ to the other players. \n- The other players have to work out the correct series of calculations that Player 1 used to get their number. They records their calculations on a piece of paper. \n- If the other players cannot work out how Player 1 got their answer, they are allowed to challenge Player 1 to prove how they got their calculation. \n- The players then compare their calculations and each player types in the other players calculations into a scientific calculator (which uses PEMDAS) to check! \n- How to score: \no If another player gets the same answer as Player 1 and their calculations are \ncorrect, they score 10 points. It does not matter if they used a completely different method of reaching the ‘answer’, they still score 10 points. \no If the other players get the wrong answer, or make mistakes, they score nothing. \no If another player challenges Player 1, and Player 1 got the wrong answer, then the other player automatically scores 10 points. \no If another player challenges Player 1, and Player 1 shows correctly how their answer was made, Player 1 scores 5 points and the other player gets-5 points. \n- Now repeat the game but with Player 2 rolling the dice, and the other players have to try to work out how Player 2 made their ‘answer’. \n- The winner is the first player to reach 100 points. \nName Date \nExample 1: Player 1 rolls a 3,4 and a 6, and then makes 2.25 by doing (3+6)÷4. \nPlayer 2 challenges Player 1 to show how the answer was made. Player 1 demonstrates and so Player 2 gets-5 points. \nExample 2: Player 1 rolls a 2,3 and 4, and then makes a 2 using 23÷4. \nPlayer 2 makes a 2 using 2 x 3-4. Player 2 has made the correct answer but different operations and so scores 10 points. \nExample 3: Player 1 rolls 5,6 and 3 and then makes 45 using 6+3x5 \nPlayer 2 makes 45 using (3+6) x 5. Player 1 has not used PEDMAS so their calculations does not work, giving Player 2 (whose calculations were correct) 10 points. \nVariations \n- Playing with 2 dice makes this game much easier. \n- Playing this game with 4 dice makes this game much harder. \n- Try playing with 8 or 10 sided dice makes the game harder and brings in different math facts to use.","cbCaiemQkTRhwRzP","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiemQkTRhwRzP","pdf",213013,"English","# Setup\n## Game instructions\n## Scoring rules\n# Examples\n## Example 1\n## Example 2\n## Example 3\n# Variations","[{\"question\":\"How does the game start and what materials are needed?\",\"answer\":\"Each round uses 3 dice, paper for recording calculations, and a scientific calculator.
