It is a good game for developing mental arithmetic confidence. \nLevel of difficulty: ❸ \nNumber of players: 2+ \nLearning: +, -, x, ÷ and PEMDAS You will need \n- 3 dice \n- Some pieces of paper \n- A scientific calculator \nInstructions \n- Player 1 throws all three dice in front of Player 2. \n- Player 1 then uses the numbers on the dice and the operations +, -, x and ÷ to make their ‘answer’. Player 1 must record their calculations secretly on a piece of paper, using brackets where necessary. \n- Player 1 then tells their ‘answer’ to Player 2. \n- Player 2 has to work out the correct series of calculations that Player 1 used to get their number. Player 2 records their calculations on a piece of paper, again using PEMDAS where necessary. \n- If Player 2 cannot work out how Player 1 got their answer, they are allowed to challenge Player 1 to prove how they got their calculation. \n- Both players then compare their calculations and each player types in the other players calculations into a scientific calculator (which uses PEMDAS) to check! \n- How to score: \no If Player 2 gets the same answer as Player 1 and both players’ calculations are correct, Player 2 scores 10 points. It does not matter if Player 2 used a completely different method of reaching the ‘answer’, they still score 10 points. \no If Player 2 got the wrong answer they score nothing. \no If Player 1 got the wrong answer, then Player 2 automatically scores 10 points. \no If Player 2 challenges Player 1, and Player 1 shows correctly how their answer was made, Player 1 scores 5 points (and Player 2 scores nothing) . \n- Now repeat the game but with Player 2 rolling the dice, and Player 1 has to try to workout how Player 2 made their ‘answer’. \n- The winner is the first player to reach 100 points. \nSPOT THE CALCULATION DICE GAME \\#2 CONT. \nExample 1: Player 1 rolls a 3,4 and a 6, and then makes 2.25 by doing (3+6)÷4. \nPlayer 2 challenges Player 1 to show how the answer was made. Player 1 demonstrates and so Player 2 gets no points and Player 1 gets 5 points. \nExample 2: Player 1 rolls a 2,3 and 4, and then makes 1.5 using 2x3÷4. \nPlayer 2 makes 1.5 using 3÷4x2 . Player 2 has made the correct answer but different operations and so scores 10 points. \nExample 3: Player 1 rolls 5,6 and 3 and then makes 45 using 6+3x5 \nPlayer 2 makes 45 using (3+6) x 5. Player 1 has not used PEDMAS so their calculations does not work, giving Player 2 (whose calculations were correct) 10 points. However, Player 2 would get 10 points even if they did not make a total as Player 1 was incorrect. \nVariations \n- Playing with 2 dice makes this game much easier. \n- Playing this game with 4 dice makes this game much harder. \n- Try playing with 8 or 10 sided dice makes the game harder and brings in different math facts to use. \n- You can play this game using more than 2 players – one player makes a calculation and all the other players have to guess.","cbCaiopo4UVcisEE","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiopo4UVcisEE","pdf",208772,"English","# Instructions\n## Scoring\n# Examples\n# Variations","[{\"question\":\"How does Player 1 create the answer in the game?\",\"answer\":\"Player 1 rolls three dice, then uses the dice numbers with +, -, x, and ÷ (and brackets when needed) to form an expression to reach a total, recording the work secretly on paper.\"},{\"question\":\"What happens if Player 2 cannot work out Player 1’s calculation?\",\"answer\":\"Player 2 can challenge Player 1 to prove how the answer was made.
