pandemic dis-ruption,achieving the best na-tional average grade(GPK)sincethe introduction of KurikulumStandard Sekolah Menengah(KSSM)in 2021.  \nThey are proof of the success ofthe new curriculum with school-based assessments,being thefirst batch of candidates who didnot sit for any major examina-tions till the SPM level.  \nEducation director-generalDatuk Dr Mohd Azam Ahmadsaid the GPK improved to 4.42from 4.49 in 2024 and 4.86 in2021.  \nFor SPM,grade points are as-signed to each grade,with lowernumbers representing higherachievement.A lower GPK num-ber indicates better overall re-sults.  \n“SPM 2025 candidates have un-dergone a long and continuous  \nteaching and learning process.  \n\"Thanks to the unwaveringdedication of teachers who con-tinuously implemented variousinterventions to develop theirstudents’potential,the candi-dates nurtured in classroomshave emerged resilient and con-fident,even though SPM is theonly major examination in theirschooling journey,\"he said.  \nA total of 13,779 candidatesearned A+,A and A-grades in allsubjects last year,compared with  \n13,827 in 2024.  \nHowever,376 candidatesachieved straight A+results,upfrom 352 the year before.  \nAzam highlighted the achieve-ment gap between urban and ru-ral candidates that narrowed tojust 0.4 points.  \nThe GPK for urban candidatesimproved to 4.4 from 4.47 in2024,whereas for rural candi-dates,it
