PAUL’ S SCHOOLS \nDear St. Paul’s Community, \nWelcome to the second joint issue of Spiritus-Columns, the magazine of The St. Paul’s Schools. We are so excited about what is happening around campus this year and have highlighted some noteworthy examples within these pages. Please enjoy reading these updates and seeing our students dive into experiential learning on our campus and beyond, immerse themselves in exciting real-world experiences, and be crucial voices as we develop our strategic plan. \nWhat is difficult to convey in print is what we see and hear every day: lots of great noise. The sounds of laughter, connection, community, and vibrancy surround us each day. In between, we also find ourselves and students immersed in quiet reflection, prayer, and breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. \nThis year we have found a saying that is resonating deeply within our school community. At the start of the year, the faculty, staff, and trustees read the book Legacy by James Kerr. It is the story of a New Zealand rugby team that created a culture where everyone thrived. As part of our book discussion, we heard from Wilson Freeman, a member of staff whose stunning pictures are all over this magazine. Wilson told us about a phrase rugby players use when they are running behind their teammates. They say, simply,“with you, with you, with you.” When he shared that, the room fell silent. Every person in that room felt the immense power of those two words. \nNow, the phrase appears everywhere. Teachers are wearing t-shirts stating“with you,” Instagram hashtags are appearing, and many of us use the phrase to sign off emails. \nI wanted to share this story because all members of our community, past, present, and future, are part of the “with you” culture. Our core values at St. Paul’s are clearly embedded within these words. We remain, as always, a unique family of Episcopal schools where our students and employees are known, loved, and supported. \nIt is simply a great place to be. We cherish each moment and hope you enjoy these pages. \nWith you, with you, with you, \nClark E.
