EVERY MONTHEXCEPT JULY AND AUGUST \n# Spiritual Efficiency\n\nIn the encyclical Mediator Dei,His Holiness Pius XII stressesthe fact that all of the liturgy must center about the Holy Sacri--fice of the Mass. Our devotion to certain saints, therefore, shouldbe centered in the Mass.A knowledge of the life of St.Isidoreclearly indicates to us that Holy Mass was primary in his lifeand that the divine stamp of approval for taking time to go toMass was given. To say special prayers in honor of St.Isidoreand neglect to go to Mass, particularly during the week,is notfollowing his chief example. \nSt.Isidore participated in the Sacrifice of the Mass everymorning. Then he worked in the fields.Perhaps he realized thatthis orientation was necessary. He didn't feel the day had theright beginning unless he first laid up for himself some treasuresin heaven, unless he first gave honor and glory and thanks toGod,unless he asked for more Divine help and expressed sorrowfor sins through the Sacrifice of the Mass, the unbloody Sacrificeof the Cross. \nMany of us are wise in the ways of the world. We try atleast to be efficient in farming, business and community life. What happens to the inefficient in the world is easy to see. \nPeople who are inefficient in their spiritual life—althoughit is not as easy to see—are going spiritually broke. \nImitation of the life of St.Isidore, patron of_Americanfarmers,will bring us frequently to Holy Mass. The Mass,prop-erly understood, will help us to be more efficient, for it will givepurpose and direction to our work.We will see it not only as abusiness, but as a means to sanctify ourselves and our families. It will help us to see how ridiculous are the statements of somesociologists and economists(just a few)that farming is only abusiness.Farming has always been a business and must alwaysbe. It must remain also a way through which many Christianfamilies will find security, holiness and happiness. If businessand a way of life are not united, then every business man—farmer or other—will surely have a very drab existence. \nDoes the agricultural economist who champions the new cru-sade,\"farming is only a business,\"want to take all the joy, thehuman interest, the spirit, out of farming?Does a big farmwith big machinery prohibit a man","cbCairKPlZigDhxX","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCairKPlZigDhxX","pdf",1713998,16,"English","# Around the World\n## June 10,1958\n## Editorial\n## Come to Fort Wayne\n# Spiritual
