Salamanders will often prey on spiders as part of their diet. However some large spiders also prey on salamanders! \nAge range: 1st Grade + \nNumber of players: 2 \nLearning: Strategy and logical thinking \nYou will need \n- The playing pieces from the counters sheet. Alternatively, use one counter to represent the salamander and 6 identical counters to represent the spiders. \nInstructions \n• One player is the salamander, the other player is the spiders. \n• Start the game with the salamander on the square with the black cross, and the spiders on the squares with the red crosses. \n• The salamander and the spiders can move square at a time diagonally either forwards or backwards. \n• Each turn the salamander must move, and one spider must move. \n• The salamander is able to eat a spider by jumping over it, only if there is a free square the other side of the spider to land on. The salamander can jump horizontally, vertically or diagonally over a spider to eat it. \n• The spiders are able to capture the salamander (and win the game) by cornering him/her so that the he/she cannot move. \n• The salamander wins the game by reducing the spiders to 1 so that they can no longer catch him/her. \nVariations \n• Play the game with more or less spiders. \n• Allow the salamander to eat more than one spider at a time with multiple jumps. \nCounters (optional) \nWill the Spiders capture the Salamander, or will the Salamander get them first? \n\n| | | X | | | |\n| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |\n| | | | | | |\n| | | | | | |\n| | | | | | |\n| X | | X | | X | |\n| | X | | X | | X |","cbCaippCLDPKHyKY","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaippCLDPKHyKY","pdf",188579,"English","# Game Overview\n## Requirements and Setup\n# Rules of Play\n## Movement and Captures\n## Winning Conditions\n# Variations","[{\"question\":\"How does the salamander capture a spider?\",\"answer\":\"The salamander captures a spider by jumping over it to an adjacent empty square, which can be done horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.\"},{\"question\":\"What is the goal of the spiders in the game?\",\"answer\":\"The spiders win the game by working together to corner the salamander so that it has no available moves left.\"},{\"question\":\"How does the salamander win the game?\",\"answer\":\"The salamander wins by reducing the number of spiders on the board down to one, making it impossible for the remaining spider to trap him.\"}]","Spider Attack - Strategy Game for Children | PDF",1792677336]
