Other procedures may be necessary in the event of an outbreak. * \nBeginning of Day/Morning Meeting: \n1. After clocking in, check for impounds that may have come in after hours and then switch on lights and quickly glance at all the dogs in rooms 115-117. \na. Ensure that there are no emergencies, that every dog is alert and responsive, has adequate water (unless instructed to pull water for surgery), and that their dwelling area is clean and dry enough until it can be more thoroughly cleaned. \nb. If LVT is not available, check on dogs in recovery and isolation kennels as well, following any special protocols instructed. \n2. Review notes from previous day in the Dog Rounds and Animal Care Notes on the Team’s App. \n3. As you move throughout the kennel areas, take notes on and share anything noteworthy about an animals behavior/health in the Dog Rounds and Animal Care Notes. \n4. Start taking out dogs that have not soiled their kennels. \n5. At about 8:30, all kennel staff will pause their cleaning to meet in the Food Prep Room for the“Morning Meeting” lead by the Kennel Manager. \na. The Behavior Specialist will attend the meeting to discuss dog behavior/enrichment/adoption plans. \nb. Things that are reviewed in the meeting: \ni. Animal behavior changes/updates \nii. Health concerns \niii. Plans for the day (animal movement, appointments, etc. ) \nCleaning Rooms 115-117 \n(If there are two dog care staff members working, one should focus on cleaning while the other focuses on taking dogs outside. Ideally, dogs are outside during the cleaning process but that is not always feasible.) \n1. Once the meeting is over, take out to walk any dogs that have not soiled their kennel space. \n2. After taking out all the dogs who had not soiled their kennel, grab a janitor cart from the Animal Care Supply Room and bring it into the kennel area you are cleaning. \n3. Move all dogs to the back side of kennels, closing guillotine door behind them. \n4. Remove any food dishes and any rubber or plastic toys that need washing from the front side of the kennel, stacking them on janitor cart. \n5. Scoop all feces from the front side of the kennels and flush in kennel toilet using the fecal scooping tool. \n6. Use the kennel reel hose to rinse all kennel floors and, if needed, kennel walls and doors. \n7. Attach Rescue Foamer to the hose and apply foam to soiled kennels, doors, and walkway and letsit for a minimum of 5 minutes. Use scrub brush to loosen debris if needed. \n8. Return to kennel, detach Rescue Foamer, and rinse all foamed kennels, doors, and walkways down with water from hose reel. \n9. Squeegee all kennels, doors, and walkways. Wipe down glass with microfiber towels. \n10. Remove all hair and debris from drains. \n11. Return to prep room and prepare morning meals for the dogs, referring to the whiteboard in the Food Prep Room to figure out what type of food each dog needs. \n12. Distribute proper food dishes to the front side of each kennel.. \n13. Ensure that doors are properly latched and move dogs from the back side of the kennel to the front side and close guillotine door behind them. \n14. Remove any feces and soiled bedding from the backside side of the kennel and prop their beds up for cleaning if needed. \na. If bedding is extremely soiled or torn, throw it away. If bedding is wet or too soiled to leave in the kennel but does not need to be thrown away, place it on janitor’s cart to bring to the laundry room later. \n15. Be sure to unlatch the dutch door to clean between panels. \n16. Remove water buckets from the backside of the kennels and place near sink for filling. \n17. Use the kennel reel hose to rinse all kennel floors and, if needed, kennel walls and doors. \n18.
