Now God has given me peace on every side, so I am planning to build a temple to honor the name of the Lord.”  \nSolomon arranged with King Hiram of Tyre to have his men cut down cedar and pine trees. Solomon also sent thousands of men from Israel to help prepare the logs and cut huge stones they would use in building the temple.  \nIt required seven years to build this great temple. In the temple’s courtyard, Solomon made elaborate bronze pillars and an enormous bronze bowl filled with water that sat on the backs of twelve statues of bronze oxen.  \nInside the temple, the walls of the two main rooms were covered with carved cedar overlaid with gold. In the larger front room, there were ten lampstands, an altar, and a table – all of gold.  \nThe back room of the temple was a smaller room called the Most Holy Place. It measured 30 feet long, 30 feet wide and 30 feet high. In it were two statues of large winged creatures, called cherubim, made of olive wood and covered with gold.  \nWhen the work was finished, Solomon brought the ark of the covenant and tent of meeting with its furnishings up to the temple.
