The BSW program has been continuously accredited by the Council of social Work Education (CSWE) since 1974. The new MSW program began formally as an Accreditation Candidate program with full accreditation anticipated in 2022.
Following is a statement from the Council on Social work Education:
Social Work Licensing Information
Licensing of social work practitioners is under the authority of a designated office in each individual state. All
50 states and the District of Columbia require that a social worker sitting for a licensing exam be a graduate of a CSWE-accredited program.
Contact information for individual state licensing boards can be found on the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) website at [www.aswb.org](www.aswb.org) or through an internet search for a licensing board for a particular state.
The Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) is the association of boards that regulate social work. ASWB develops and maintains the social work licensing examination used across the country and is a central
resource for information on the legal regulation of social work. Through the association, social work boards can share information and work together. ASWB also is available to help individual social workers and social work students with questions they may have about licensing and the social work examinations.
Copied from [https://www.cswe.org/Accreditation/Information/Social-Work-Licensing-Information](https://www.cswe.org/Accreditation/Information/Social-Work-Licensing-Information) on April 21, 2021 .
This chart provides an overview of licensure levels by state/territory and whether our CSWE accredited program curriculum meets the educational requirements for that specific license to the best of our knowledge. The Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) provided the data necessary to make this determination. Should you wish to further explore eligibility for professional licensure, we encourage you to contact your licensure board and us before enrolling. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee our chart's accuracy due to changing policy and other considerations. For access to the data used for the development of this chart, you can access the ASWB site here:

| State/Territory/Province | License Name | License Initials | NMU BSW Compliant? | NMU MSW Compliant? |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| ALABAMA | | | | |
| | Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker | LICSW | No | Yes |
| | Licensed Master Social Worker | LMSW | No | Yes |
| | Licensed Bachelor Social Worker | LBSW | Yes | No |

| ALASKA | | | | |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| | Licensed Clinical Social Worker | LCSW | No | Yes |
| |
Licensed Master Social Worker | LMSW | No | Yes |
| | Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker | LBSW | Yes | No |
| ALBERTA | | | | |
| | Registered Social Worker-Clinical | RSW-C | No | Yes |
| | Registered Social Worker | RSW | Yes | Yes |
| | Provisional Registered Social Worker | P-RSW | Yes | Yes |
| ARIZONA | | | | |
| | Licensed Clinical Social Worker | LCSW | No | Yes |
| | Licensed Master Social Worker | LMSW | No | Yes |
| | Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker | LBSW | Yes | No |
| ARKANSAS | | | | |
| | Licensed Certified Social Worker | LCSW | No | Yes |
| |
Licensed Master Social Worker |
LMSW |
No | Yes |
| | Licensed Social Worker | LSW | Yes | No |
| | | | | |
| *Additional courses are required contact our program for additional information. | Licensed Clinical Social Worker | LCSW | No | Yes |
| | Associate Clinical Social Worker | ACSW | No | Yes |
| COLORADO | | | | |
| | Licensed Clinical Social Worker | LCSW | N","cbCailn06vJ6uSIO","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCailn06vJ6uSIO","pdf",354573,18,"English","# Social Work Programs Leading to Licensure State by State Compliance Disclosure
## Programs and accreditation background
## State licensing requirements
## Licensing board and ASWB resources
## State-by-state licensure compliance chart","[{"question":"What programs does NMU offer to lead to social work licensure?","answer":"NMU offers the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and the Master of Social Work (MSW) programs designed to lead to licensure for social work practice."},{"question":"What requirement applies to eligibility for a social work licensing exam in each state?","answer":"All 50 states and the District of Columbia require that a social worker sitting for a licensing exam be a graduate of a CSWE-accredited program."},{"question":"Can NMU guarantee the accuracy of the state compliance chart?","answer":"No. The disclosure states that NMU cannot guarantee the chart’s accuracy because licensing policies and other considerations can change."}]","Social Work Programs Leading to Licensure State by State Compliance Disclosure | PDF",1789984109,45]
