It contrasts death remembrance in Día de los Muertos with the idea that the energy can resemble love. Through references to Hamlet, Damien Hirst’s diamond-encrusted skull, Alexander McQueen, and Tim Burton, the text argues that skulls evoke beauty in the macabre, culminating in a planned April group exhibition.","skull \n13 - 27 APRIL 2019 \nAIMAN ZAMRI | AL - K HUZAI RIE ALI | ARIKWIBOWO AM RIL | EDDIE HARA | ED ROGER ROSI LI FAIZAL S UH IF | GAN TEE SHENG | HISYAMUDDIN ABDULLAH | K HAI RUDI N ZAINUDIN RUZZE KI HARRIS | SHAFIQ NORDIN | SHAHR UL JAMILI | SYAH BANDI SAMAT | WINNER JUMALON \nINTRO \nIt has been debatable when it comes to discussing the mysterious attraction which skulls have imposed on people and when the insignia really made its entrance into the visual world. Some would point out to the early Christian era and for someone whose was from the later generations would just accepted its existence in myriad of surfaces like on the label of a bottled poison, flag s on pirate ships, emblazoned motorcycle gangs’ leather jackets or even backdrop of a rock-themed bands of musician. However, the skulls would often be accompanied by crossing bones either right at the back of the skull or underneath it. Nevertheless, it serves the same purpose; to alert people of its dangerous status which is worthy of precautions when dealing with it. \nDepends on how you look at it, skull as it is just one of the remnants of death or existence. While being in the stationary state of what used to be a dynamic living being, skull which is the top part of any creature’s sets of bones unanimously headed the significant of a being. The head is universally known and treated as the entry point of recognition and interaction from one being to another. Hence, solidify the importance of skull over the rest of t he bones. \nROMANTICIZING DEATH \nNot to be confused with Halloween celebration, ‘Dia de los Muertos’ or more commonly known as ‘Day of the dead’ is a celebration relatively practiced by Mexican which they would give praise and serve remembrance to the deceased family member. Most of them would make decorations that resembles the dead primarily bones and skulls. Some would also donned painted face of skull in the spirit of the celebration. It is not entirely true when people would exclusively associate it with mour n and grieving. If anything, that seemingly sad energy resembles love rather than longing for the passing of the dead. \n“To be or n ot to be, that is the question.” \n- Prince Hamlet \nOne who is accustomed to that phrase of famous play would never, not picture a man, reciting the aforementioned soliloquy having his five fingertips, grasping a skull locking eyes to eyes (socket) . Considering the suicidal thoughts the character Hamlet had, one could argue that the pain that was going through the unfair ness of life is worth savoring hence the contemplation death. Speaking in context with the subject, skull is indeed a reminder of death that one would never shy of acknowledging despite every danger that death might impose; which is to be never again live. Be that a s it may, suicidal thoughts if they were to be materialized are likely a death sentence rather than just sending love letters to death himself. \nSKULL AS A BEAUTIFUL SUBJECT CONCLUSION \nAnother example of skull related art can be seen through the work ‘For the Love of God’ by Damien Hirst, a titanium skull encrusted with thousands of diamond which believed costed roughly around 15 Million Pound Sterling for t he artwork to be made. Damien Hirst and his thought process has always been known to be dealing death and ironically speaking how people would find it beauty rather than to endlessly question its inevitability by striving for immortality. \nAlthough the late Alexander McQueen was known more as a fashion maestro than a fine artist, the garment pieces that he has created in the past alongside the astonishingly display of his work has always been the backbone to his process which puts forward his duality in becoming the artist and the curator himself. Example can be seen through McQueen used skull as his subject in his patter n work which drove inspiration from Jack the Ripper. The theatri cs element which involved in his offering can be seen of a same stature of witnessing ","cbCaitmfLsgLtxEX","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaitmfLsgLtxEX","pdf",4624483,4,1,42,"English","en",105,"# Introduction\n## Romanticizing Death\n## Skull as a Beautiful Subject\n## April Group Exhibition","[{\"question\":\"Why do skulls hold a mysterious attraction for people?\",\"answer\":\"The text describes skulls as a widely recognized sign tied to death, danger, and remembrance, appearing across many surfaces and cultures while still serving as a caution and a point of recognition.\"},{\"question\":\"How does the document interpret Día de los Muertos?\",\"answer\":\"It explains that the celebration honoring deceased family members uses skull-like decorations and painted faces, and it challenges the assumption that it is only grief, framing it as resembling love rather than longing.\"},{\"question\":\"What examples of skull-related art are discussed?\",\"answer\":\"It cites Damien Hirst’s titanium diamond-encrusted sculpture “For the Love of God,” Alexander McQueen using skull motifs, and Tim Burton’s macabre-themed creations, culminating in the idea of skull-centered art exhibitions.\"}]","Skull -
