Moreover,Alsted adds:“Some will doubtless disagree with me,butthe system that I propose is the one which I would wishadopted by those whose educational interests I have mostat heart.”From this view my whole didactic system forcesme to dissent. \n2.(i.)The education that I propose includes all that isproper for a man,and is one in which all men who areborn into this world should share. All therefore,as far asis possible, should be educated together, that they maystimulate and urge on one another. \n(ii.)We wish all men to be trained in all the virtues, especially in modesty, sociability, and politeness, and it istherefore undesirable to create class distinctions at such anearly age,or to give some children the opportunity of con-sidering their own lot with satisfaction and that of otherswith scorn. \n(iii)When boys are only six years old,it is too early to \ndetermine their vocation in life,or whether they are moresuited for learning or for manual labour. At this age, neither the mind nor the inclinations are sufficientlydeveloped, while, later on,it will be easy to form a soundopinion on both.In the same way, while plants are quitesmall,a gardener cannot tell which to hoe up and which toleave, but has to wait until they are more advanced.Norshould admission to the Latin-School be reserved for thesons of rich men, nobles, and magistrates,as if these werethe only boys who would ever be able to fill similar positions. The wind blows where it will, and does not always beginto blow at a fixed time. \n3.(iv.)The next reason is that my universal method hasnot as its sole object the Latin language, that nymph onwhom such unbounded admiration is generally wasted, but seeks a way by which each modern language may betaught as well (that every spirit may praise the Lord moreand more). This design should not be frustrated by thecomplete an","cbCaijovvqK8Pxdz","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaijovvqK8Pxdz","pdf",1458788,"English","# CHAPTER XXIX\n## SKETCH OF THE VERNACULAR-SCHOOL\n## Rationale for sending children to vernacular education\n## Core purposes and curriculum of the Vernacular-School","[{\"question\":\"Why does Comenius argue for starting with the Vernacular-School instead of the Latin-School?\",\"answer\":\"He argues that education should begin with the mother-tongue.
