Popa University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Iaşi, Romania \nAbstract \nInverted papilloma (IP) is a non-cancerous tumor that develops from the paranasal sinuses. Identifying and diagnosing an IP is vital for an ear, nose and throat specialist, due to its high recurrence rate and ability to transform into malignant carcinoma. Diagnosis is based on endonasal flexible endoscopy, preoperative biopsy, and imaging methods. Treatment is exclusively surgical, and its aim is the complete resection of the tumor to prevent further recurrences. The success of surgery depends on employing the most appropriate surgical technique. The choice should be tailored to the tumor’s location, size, and the patient’s specific anatomy. Endoscopic, open, or even combined approaches maybe considered. Notably, attachment-oriented surgery is the cornerstone in endoscopic endonasal approaches. Regardless of the chosen approach, long-term surveillance is vital, as early detection provides the benefit of easier re-resection. \nKeywords: sinonasal inverted papilloma, endoscopic endonasal surgery, paranasal sinus neoplasms. \n􀀕 Introduction \nInverted papilloma (IP) arising from the paranasal sinuses is a distinct, non-cancerous growth that has a predisposition for local aggressiveness, a notable recurrence rate, and the capability to develop into squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). The historical background, epidemiology, histology, symptoms, etiology, risk factors, and available treatments for IP are explored in this paper. From the earliest descriptions of IP to the establishment of classification schemes, the historical perspective charts the development of IP knowledge. In terms of epidemiology, IP is quite uncommon. It makes up a minor portion of sinonasal neoplasms, exhibits a tendency towards males, and usually manifests in the fifth decade of life [1] . Histologically, IP develops from the Schneiderian sinonasal epithelium, which grows into the underlying connective tissue in an inverted pattern. Unilateral nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, headache, and facial pressure are typical symptoms. Endoscopy, preoperative biopsies, and imaging methods like computed tomography (CT) and magnetic \nresonance imaging (MRI) are used in the diagnostic process. Several etiological theories, such as viral infections, chronic inflammation, and environmental exposure, are examined in this article. Along with pointing out contradictions in the study results, this paper presents the contentious role that the h","cbCaiiXrnPLT9l9E","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiiXrnPLT9l9E","pdf",1661777,9,"English","# Introduction\n## Inverted papilloma characteristics and epidemiology\n## Diagnostic workup and etiological considerations\n## Treatment strategies and surgical options\n## Postoperative surveillance and recurrence management\n# Study selection for literature review\n## Case-based discussion and literature search scope","[{\"question\":\"What is sinonasal inverted papilloma and why is early identification important?\",\"answer\":\"Inverted papilloma is a non-cancerous sinonasal tumor arising from the paranasal sinuses.
