The document explains the silkworm lifecycle from egg to larva, through instar stages and moulting, to cocooning and moth emergence. It provides operational guidance on rearing-house conditions and equipment, temperature and humidity control, ventilation, insulation, disinfection, feeding, bed cleaning, mounting, cocoon harvesting, and disease management. It also includes a list of required food and equipment, milestones for silkworm success, and supporting background on sericulture in Georgia.",{"@graph":69,"@context":122},[70,84,105],{"@type":71,"itemListElement":72},"BreadcrumbList",[73,77,79,82],{"item":74,"name":75,"@type":76,"position":8},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":78,"name":9,"@type":76,"position":14},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/",{"item":80,"name":35,"@type":76,"position":81},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/healthcare/",3,{"item":83,"name":65,"@type":76,"position":19},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/silkworm-rearing-guidelines-georgia/661006/",{"url":83,"name":65,"@type":85,"image":86,"author":91,"headline":65,"publisher":94,"fileFormat":97,"inLanguage":63,"description":67,"dateModified":98,"datePublished":99,"encodingFormat":97,"isAccessibleForFree":100,"interactionStatistic":101},"DigitalDocument",{"url":87,"@type":88,"width":89,"height":90},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/silkworm-rearing-guidelines-georgia/661006.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":92,"@type":93},"putri.kecil17","Person",{"url":74,"name":95,"@type":96},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-10-29","2026-10-28",true,{"@type":102,"interactionType":103,"userInteractionCount":81},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":104},"ViewAction",{"@type":106,"mainEntity":107},"FAQPage",[108,114,118],{"name":109,"@type":110,"acceptedAnswer":111},"What are the main life stages of the silkworm described in the guidelines?","Question",{"text":112,"@type":113},"The guidelines describe four life stages: egg, silkworm, pupa, and moth. (2025) . Silkworm Rearing Guidelines. Tbilisi, Georgia. \nGlossary \nPupa: The phase during which the silkworm finishes spinning its cocoon and transforms into a pupa inside the cocoon before emerging as a moth. \nMoth: The adult stage of the silkworm, which emerges from the cocoon after transforming from the pupa. The moth's primary role is to mate and lay eggs, starting the life cycle anew. \nLarva: The caterpillar stage of the silkworm’s life cycle, which feeds on mulberry leaves and grows rapidly before forming a cocoon. \nCocoon: The protective shell spun by a mature silkworm larva, made of silk thread, from which raw silk is derived. \nInstar: A developmental stage in a silkworm’s life cycle. There are five instars before cocooning. \nMoulting: The time when a silkworm stops eating and sheds its old skin to grow into the next instar. During moulting, silkworms are still and do not appear to move. \nRearing House: The building or room where silkworms are reared. \nRearing Bed: The surface where silkworms are kept and fed during their larval stage. \nMountage: A plant based (e.g. branch or twig) or artificial structure, used to allow mature silkworms to spin their cocoons. \nCocoon Harvesting: The process of collecting silk cocoons after silkworms have finished spinning. \nContents \nAbout these Guidelines ................................................................................................................2 \nGlossary ......................................................................................................................................2 \nUnderstanding the Silkworm Lifecycle ................................................................................4 \nThe Stages of the Silkworm .......................................................................................................5 \nThe Silkworm Rearing House and Equipment ......................................................................6 \nSilkworm Rearing House Conditions .........................................................................................6 \nSilkworm Rearing House Equipment .........................................................................................6 \nTemperature and Humidity Control............................................................................................7 \nInsulation .................................................................................................................................7 \nVentilation................................................................................................................................7 \nRearing-Space Management .....................................................................................................8 \nDisinfection..............................................................................................................................9 \nSilkworm Rearing and Harvesting...................................................................................... 10 \nList of Food & Equipment ........................................................................................................ 11 \nFeeding .................................................................................................................................. 11 \nBed Cleaning.......................................................................................................................... 12 \nMounting................................................................................................................................ 13 \nHarvesting.............................................................................................................................. 14 \nDisease Management ..","cbCaid40vNT3lik1","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaid40vNT3lik1","pdf",1212308,"English","# About these Guidelines\n# Glossary\n# Understanding the Silkworm Lifecycle\n# The Stages of the Silkworm\n# The Silkworm Rearing House and Equipment\n## Silkworm Rearing House Conditions\n## Silkworm Rearing House Equipment\n# Temperature and Humidity Control\n## Insulation\n## Ventilation\n# Rearing-Space Management\n# Disinfection\n# Silkworm Rearing and Harvesting\n## List of Food & Equipment\n## Feeding\n## Bed Cleaning\n## Mounting\n## Harvesting\n# Disease Management\n# Silkworm Success\n# History of Sericulture in Georgia\n# Bibliography","[{\"question\":\"What are the main life stages of the silkworm described in the guidelines?\",\"answer\":\"The guidelines describe four life stages: egg, silkworm, pupa, and moth.
