At the start of the practical driving test, the driving examiner will ask you two 'show me, tell me questions' based on basic vehicle maintenance. \nOne will be a 'tell me' how to do something question, explaining how to check the tyre pressure for example. The other question will be a 'show me' question. That's where you will have to physically show the examiner how you would do something, for example testing the horn. \nYou can not fail your test if you get any of the questions wrong but you could get one driving fault if you incorrectly answer one or two questions. \nThese questions are for a Ford Fiesta, but a lot of cars are similar. \nSome answers refer to you turning on the ignition. Just turn the key a little for the electrics but don't start the car completely. \n1. \nQ: Open the bonnet, identify where you would check the engine oil level and tell me how you would check that the engine has sufficient oil. \nA: The dip-stick is identified in the picture just below. This involves you opening the bonnet. You would check by removing the dip-stick, wiping it clean of oil, dipping it back in, removing it again and the oil should leave a mark between the maximum and minimum marker. \nQ: Tell me how you would check the engine coolant level and tell me how you \nA: The coolant tank is identified in the picture just below. This involves you opening the bonnet. The coolant can be checked by looking at the maximum and minimum levels found on the side (never open the coolant when it's hot) . \nwould check that it has the correct level. \n3. \nQ: Tell me where the windscreen washer reservoir is and how you would check the windscreen washer level. \nA: This is identified in the picture just below. This involves you opening the bonnet. It can be checked by opening it up and checking that it has sufficient washer fluid inside. \n4. \nQ: Tell me where the brake fluid reservoir is and tell me how you would check that you have a safe level of hydraulic brake fluid. \nA: The brake fluid reservoir is identified in the picture just below. This involves you opening the bonnet. It can be checked by looking at the maximum and minimum levels found on the side of the brake fluid reservoir. \nHow to open the bonnet of a Ford Fiesta diesel 6th generation (2008-present) and identify what's underneath... \n5. \nQ: Tell me how you would check that the brakes are working before starting a journey. \nA: Tell the examiner you would start the car, drive forward slowly and try the foot brake. It should stop the car and the pedal should feel firm and not spongy. \n6. \nQ: Tell me how you would check the tyre pressure and how you would know how much air to put in to the tyre. \nA: Tyre pressure information can be found in the car manual. You can check the tyre pressure by using a tyre pressure gauge. \n7. \nQ: Tell me how you can check the tyres to ensure that they have sufficient tread depth and that their \ngeneral condition is safe to use on the road. \nA: The tread depth can be measured using a tread depth gauge. The legal minimum amount of tread should me no less than 1.6mm of tread in the central ¾ of the tyre and there shouldn't be any cuts or bulges on the edge of the tyre. \n8. \nQ: Tell me how you would make sure that the head restraint is correctly adjusted. \nA: Tell the examiner that the head restraint should be adjusted so that the rigid part of the head restraint is at least as high as your eyes (or top of your ears) and as close to the back of the head as is comfortable. \nQ: Tell me how you would check the headlights & tail lights are working. \nA: Turn the ignition on and turn the headlights on. Tell the examiner that you would then get out and check that both front headlights and the back tail lights are working properly (check from the pavement) . \n10. \nQ: Tell me how you would know if there was a prob","cbCaisaYFqy1oYwr","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaisaYFqy1oYwr","pdf",621321,"English","# Show me, tell me questions - Ford Fiesta\n## Engine and fluids checks\n## Brakes, tyres, and safety checks\n## Lighting, indicators, and controls","[{\"question\":\"What is the difference between “tell me” and “show me” questions in the practical test?\",\"answer\":\"“Tell me” requires explaining how you would do something, while “show me” requires physically demonstrating it to the examiner.\"},{\"question\":\"How do you check the engine oil level on a Ford Fiesta?\",\"answer\":\"Open the bonnet, remove the dip-stick, wipe it clean, dip it back in, then remove it again; the oil should be between the maximum and minimum markers.\"},{\"question\":\"How can you check tyre pressure and know how much air to add?\",\"answer\":\"Use a tyre pressure gauge, and check the correct pressure value in the car manual to know how much air to put in.\"}]","Show me, Tell Me Questions - Ford Fiesta - DSA 2014 Driving Practical Test Q&A | PDF",25]
