Colin was on his bicycle. He was coming home. His bike lamp was not working. He fell off. He hurt his ankle. The bike fell on top of him. He could not move.  \n\"Help!\" he shouted. The street was dark. No-one came. It began to rain. A woman came past. But she was frightened. She ran away.  \n\"Help!\" he shouted again. A man looked out of a window. But he did not come out.  \nColin was very worried. Who would help him now? An old woman hobbled up the street. She had two crutches. She stopped. She wanted to help. So she hobbled to a shop. She asked them to phone the ambulance. They phoned the police as well. Colin was taken to hospital. The police kept his bike safe.  \nThe old woman went home. She was cold and wet. But she was happy. His bicycle lamp did not work well. It kept flickering. \"Ow!\" The bicycle wheel hit the kerb. Over he went. His foot caught under the pedal. He could not get up. He was stuck! His ankle hurt badly. He called out for help. But there was no-one in the street.  \nThen a woman came round the corner. She was carrying a bag. It was full of groceries. She saw Colin. She was frightened. Was it a trick? Would he rob her? She ran away.  \nColin cried out for help again. A window opened from a high flat. A man looked out. He saw Colin. The man was in his night clothes. \"I can't go out like this \", he thought.\"I would need to get dressed. Also it's beginning to rain. Someone in the street should help. \" He shut the window. He sat down again and watched the TV.  \nColin was badly hurt. He called out for help again. An old woman hobbled round the corner. She was using two crutches. \"Oh dear,\" thought Colin. \"How can she help?\"  \nBut she did. She stopped beside Colin. \"You need help,\" she said.\"But I am not strong enough to lift the bike. I will get help. \" She hobbled across the street, and round the corner. She went into a shop. She asked them to phone for an ambulance. They phoned the police as well.  \nThe old woman hobbled back to Colin. It was raining hard now. So she got out her umbrella. She held it over him. Soon the ambulance came. They lifted the bike up. They said that Colin's ankle was broken.  \n\"What about my bike?\" asked Colin.  \n\"Don't worry,\" said the woman. \"I will wait here until the police come. They will look after it. \"  \nColin was taken to hospital. The police came and took the bike. The old woman was now very wet and cold. She could not do her shopping. So she went home.
