Kings Asa, Joash, Hezekiah, and Josiah, demonstrated loyalty to God and made bold choices to remove false idols and restore true worship in the temple. God used these leaders to bring His people to a place of repentance and worship. Meditate on the following main teaching points. \nJudah’s good leaders were loyal to God. In the Southern Kingdom of Judah, several kings emerged who demonstrated loyalty to God and guided their people away from sin. King Asa removed the places of false worship and encouraged the people to follow God’s laws. King Joash restored true worship in the temple and destroyed the altars to false gods, and King Hezekiah cleaned out the temple and invited the people to celebrate their faith. God blessed these leaders’ loyalty and gave the people victory over their enemies during their reigns. \nGod guides us to follow Him through prayer. The good kings of Judah knew that prayer was a powerful means by which to seek God’s guidance and support. When faced with invading armies, King Asa prayed earnestly, trusting in God’s power for victory. King Hezekiah turned to God in prayer when the Assyrian army threatened Judah. Prayer is our way to connect with God, express our dependence on Him, and receive His wisdom and strength. \nJesus leads us to love and obey God. God blessed Judah with several faithful kings, but even these men were imperfect. In contrast, Jesus, our ultimate King, is always faithful and leads us to love and obey God. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus shows us the way to a relationship with God rooted in love and grace. He invites us to follow Him daily, helping us turn away from sin and live in obedience to God’s commands. \nAs you teach kids this week, guide them to understand that the good kings of Judah led the people to a healthy relationship with their God. They tore down the barriers to true worship and reminded the people who they were and where they had come from. As we hear the story of the gospel and respond in faith, we are reminded that we belong to God’s family. With Jesus as our true King, we have the strength to love and worship God wholeheartedly. \nSHEPHERD GUIDE \nREMINDER: Our VIP meeting is from 10:20-10:30 in C1. Your supply bin will be in your classroom. \nGRADES 1-2 \nKNOW + LOVE + FOLLOW \nOctober 19, 2025 2nd Service \nMAIN TAKEAWAYS: We want our kids to: \n*KNOW that God is good and worthy of our worship. \n*CONNECT with God through prayer as they depend on Him. \n* LOVE and OBEY God in what they say and do. \nAs you arrive and children come and go-Welcome them by name and invite them to play with you and the others. \nUse this time to get to know your kids-ask them about their week, about their likes and dislikes and about their \nschool, family and friends. \nWays to connect-Play a game from the closet, color or draw together, build with legos/blocks, etc. \nWhen most kids have arrived for 2nd service (by 10:50ish), ask them to clean up the toys and find a seat at one of the \ntables to begin the class. \n*Option-Pen Pal Kit!! \nPREPARE \n HEARTS \n Question of the Day: \nStarter Activity \nWelcome and Question of the Day \nHave you ever done a deep cleaning of your room where you take everything out of the closet and drawers and organize it all? \nTo be faithful means to be loyal and committed to someone. God wants us to be faithful to Him, but we often go astray. \nYou may have thrown away a bunch of trash, gotten rid of toys you don’t use, and put everything back in its place. It’s nice to tidy up your space and know where everything is. In our Bible story, we’ll hear about some of Judah’s kings. They weren’t deep cleaning their bedrooms, but they were doing another important type of cleaning.
