Immunohistochemistry was used to evaluate SGK3 expression. \nRESULTS \nSGK3 was overexpressed in 55 (59.8%) patients with ESCN. SGK3 overexpression showed a significant correlation with death (P = 0.031) . Overall survival and disease-free survival rates were higher in the normal SGK3 expression group than in the SGK3 overexpression group (P = 0.013 and P = 0.004, respectively) . Cox regression analysis models demonstrated that SGK3 overexpression was an independent predictor of poor prognosis in ESCN patients (hazard ratio 4.729; \n WJG [https://www.wjgnet.com](https://www.wjgnet.com) 3658 June 21, 2023 Volume 29 Issue 23 \nXu N et al. SGK3 overexpression correlates with poor prognosis \n95% confidence interval: 1.042-21.458) . \nCONCLUSION \nSGK3 overexpression was detected in the majority of patients with endoscopically resected ESCNand was significantly associated with shortened survival. Thus, it might be a new prognostic factor for ESCN. \nKey Words: Superficial esophageal squamous cell neoplasia; Serum and glucocorticoid-induced protein kinase; Endoscopic submucosal dissection; Immunohistochemistry; Overall survival \n©The Author(s) 2023. These findings provide a new prognostic factor for ESCN. \nCitation: Xu N","cbCaikUv36HuIvBb","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaikUv36HuIvBb","pdf",2681452,11,"English","# Abstract\n## Background\n## Aim\n## Methods\n## Results\n## Conclusion\n# Introduction\n## Esophageal cancer and superficial ESCN context\n## SGK family and SGK3 rationale","[{\"question\":\"What was the main purpose of the study on SGK3 in ESCN?\",\"answer\":\"To determine the SGK3 overexpression rate in superficial esophageal squamous cell neoplasia and assess its impact on patient prognosis and outcomes after endoscopic resection.\"},{\"question\":\"How were SGK3 expression levels measured in the patients?\",\"answer\":\"Immunohistochemistry was used to evaluate SGK3 expression in enrolled ESCN cases.\"},{\"question\":\"What did the results show about SGK3 overexpression and prognosis?\",\"answer\":\"SGK3 overexpression was found in 59.8% of patients and was significantly associated with death, with lower overall survival and disease-free survival in the overexpression group.
