Specifically, individuals reporting no sexual activity in the previous year had a 40% overall happiness rate and a nearly 60% marital happiness rate. In contrast, those who had sex more than once a month showed a remarkable 60% overall happiness and an 80% marital happiness rate. Importantly, this correlation persisted even when controlling for other potential influencing factors such as good health and financial stability. These findings, presented at the Gerontological Society of America’s annual meeting, highlight the importance of sexual health for older adults and suggest a need for sexual health interventions to support continued activity and well-being throughout the golden years.
