Serpy feels limited by his inability to move in a straight path, as he can only slither in a zig-zag motion. He observes various creatures and their movements, starting with birds flying in various directions, not straight. He then notices fawns running in a zigzag manner, and fish swimming with a wiggle and a waggle. Finally, he observes a crab, which, despite having multiple legs, also does not walk in a straight line. These observations lead Serpy to reconsider his own mode of movement, suggesting that perhaps moving in a zig-zag or criss-cross pattern is not as unusual or undesirable as he initially thought. The story is accompanied by illustrations depicting the characters and their environments, enhancing the narrative for young readers.","Serpy the Snake Rajiv Tambe Rijuta Ghate \nIn a thick, dark forest lived Serpy, the snake . A snake does not have legs. \nA snake cannot walk. It cannot run . A snake does not have wings. \nA snake cannot fly. A snake cannot swim in a straight line. \nBut Serpy wanted to walk, run, fly and swim ina straight line. \nThat was all he could think of. \n’If I had legs, I would walk in a straight line. If I had wings, I would fly in a straight line.’ \n’But oh, I am so weird! \nI can’t walk straight, can’t run straight! I can’t fly straight, can’t swim straight. I can only slither \nzig zag , zig zag , zig zag .’ \nSerpy saw some birds flying in the sky one day. \nThey were going up, going down, going around in circles and arcs . Not a single bird was flying straight. \nThis made Serpy think! \nLooking across the plains one day, Serpy saw some fawns. \nThe fawns ran here and there . They ran in the most zigzag way. Not a single fawn walked ina straight line. \nThis made Serpy think! \nSerpy went towards the river. \nThe fish in the river wiggled and waggled as they swam . \nThis made Serpy think! \nSerpy sat on the river bank, lost in thought. Just then a crab came by. Serpy moved aside. The crab walked past. But not in a straight line! The crab had half a dozen legs and yet could not walk straight! \nThis made Serpy think some more! \nSerpy thought, did he really need wings? Did he really want those legs? Now zigzag, then criss-cross, is not the way he moved.","cbCaig8JBISbiqWs","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaig8JBISbiqWs","pdf",901647,13,"English","en",105,"# Serpy the Snake\n## Serpy's Wishes\n## Observations\n### Birds\n### Fawns\n### Fish\n### Crab\n## Serpy's Realization","[{\"question\":\"What is Serpy the snake's main concern?\",\"answer\":\"Serpy the snake is concerned that he cannot walk, run, fly, or swim in a straight line, as he can only move in a zig-zag pattern.\"},{\"question\":\"What does Serpy observe about other animals' movements?\",\"answer\":\"Serpy observes that birds fly in various directions, fawns run in a meandering way, fish swim with a wiggle, and even a crab with many legs does not walk in a straight line.\"},{\"question\":\"What is the ultimate realization Serpy has about his movement?\",\"answer\":\"After observing other animals, Serpy begins to question whether he truly needs to move in a straight line, implying that his zig-zag movement might be perfectly acceptable and perhaps even natural.\"}]",1783570075,20,{"code":4,"msg":29,"data":30},"ok",{"site_id":23,"language":22,"slug":31,"title":13,"keywords":32,"description":14,"schema_data":33,"social_meta":85,"head_meta":87,"extra_data":89,"updated_unix":26},"serpy-the-snake","",{"@graph":34,"@context":84},[35,52,67],{"@type":36,"itemListElement":37},"BreadcrumbList",[38,42,46,49],{"item":39,"name":40,"@type":41,"position":11},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":43,"name":44,"@type":41,"position":45},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/","Document",2,{"item":47,"name":12,"@type":41,"position":48},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/story-novel/",3,{"item":50,"name":13,"@type":41,"position":51},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/serpy-the-snake/48622/",4,{"url":50,"name":13,"@type":53,"author":54,"headline":13,"publisher":56,"fileFormat":59,"inLanguage":22,"description":14,"dateModified":60,"datePublished":61,"encodingFormat":59,"isAccessibleForFree":62,"interactionStatistic":63},"DigitalDocument",{"name":9,"@type":55},"Person",{"url":39,"name":57,"@type":58},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-07-13","2026-07-09",true,{"@type":64,"interactionType":65,"userInteractionCount":11},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":66},"ViewAction",{"@type":68,"mainEntity":69},"FAQPage",[70,76,80],{"name":71,"@type":72,"acceptedAnswer":73},"What is Serpy the snake's main concern?","Question",{"text":74,"@type":75},"Serpy the snake is concerned that he cannot walk, run, fly, or swim in a straight line, as he can only move in a zig-zag pattern.","Answer",{"name":77,"@type":72,"acceptedAnswer":78},"What does Serpy observe about other animals' movements?",{"text":79,"@type":75},"Serpy observes that birds fly in various directions, fawns run in a meandering way, fish swim with a wiggle, and even a crab with many legs does not walk in a straight line.",{"name":81,"@type":72,"acceptedAnswer":82},"What is the ultimate realization Serpy has about his movement?",{"text":83,"@type":75},"After observing other animals, Serpy begins to question whether he truly needs to move in a straight line, implying that his zig-zag movement might be perfectly acceptable and perhaps even natural.","https://schema.org",{"og:url":50,"og:type":86,"og:title":13,"og:site_name":57,"og:description":14},"article",{"robots":88,"canonical":50},"index,follow",{"doc_id":7,"site_id":23},{"code":4,"msg":5,"data":91},[92,95,99,103,108,113,118,123,127,130,134],{"id":11,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":12,"show_sort_weight":93,"slug":94},90,"story-novel",{"id":45,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":96,"show_sort_weight":97,"slug":98},"Literature",80,"literature",{"id":51,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":100,"show_sort_weight":101,"slug":102},"Exam",70,"exam",{"id":104,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":105,"show_sort_weight":106,"slug":107},5,"Comic",60,"comic",{"id":109,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":110,"show_sort_weight":111,"slug":112},6,"Technology",50,"technology",{"id":114,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":115,"show_sort_weight":116,"slug":117},7,"Healthcare",40,"healthcare",{"id":119,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":120,"show_sort_weight":121,"slug":122},8,"Research & Report",30,"research-report",{"id":124,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":125,"show_sort_weight":27,"slug":126},9,"Religion & Spirituality","religion-spirituality",{"id":27,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":128,"show_sort_weight":27,"slug":129},"World Cup","world-cup",{"id":131,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":132,"show_sort_weight":131,"slug":133},10,"Lifestyle","lifestyle",{"id":135,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":136,"show_sort_weight":104,"slug":137},19,"General","general"]
