The document highlights collaborations with craftsmen, public-space installations, and projects that translate complex histories into tactile, material outcomes. It covers initiatives ranging from digital-to-physical sculptures and Google Maps 3D transformations to industrial and ecological narratives rooted in place, including recent eco-conscious work based on 3D scanning.","PORTFOLIO \nSerge Ecker 13/09/2024 \n2 \nIndex \n4 Introduction \n5 CV \n6-38 Installations \n41-80 Sculptures \n81-92 Textile \n93-108 Photography \n107-120 Annex I: Texts \n121-148 Annex II: Press \nIntroduction \nThe artistic ventures of Serge Ecker are a poetic blend of real and virtual, embodied particularly through his transformative interaction with various materials and spaces. Although the material choice is driven by purpose rather than preference, his creations reflect a deep-rooted understanding of its context, often blossoming through collaborative efforts with craftsmen, an acknowledgement of skills beyond his reach. \nHis project \"Flying Cepelinai \", executed in collaboration with Algimantas Šlapikas for Kaunas 22, is a captivating exemplar of his practice. Despite the initial absence of personal interactions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, their synergy bore fruit through digital communications, finally manifesting into a physical sculpture symbolizing a city quarter. This initiative beautifully captured Ecker's essence of transmuting real into virtual and back to real, reflecting the rich historical and cultural imprints of the region. \nWorking often with enduring materials, especially in public spaces, his artistry resonates with the environmental character of the location. This was vividly depicted in his venture in theiron ore rich southern Luxembourg, where the RedWall (2019) became a canvas portraying industrial tales of the region, a narrative close to his heart as his family was embedded within this industrial landscape. \nEcker's recent exploration into the digital imprints of stealth aircrafts on Google Maps, which he meticulously transformed into 3D models and printed, mirrors his continuous endeavor to unveil hidden narratives. His art form, though entrenched in modern technology, craves a physical touch, a tangible experience beyond the digital veil. \nCurrently, Ecker is delving into an eco-conscious narrative, propelled by the shocking waste witnessed in the cultural world. His creative conscience is now stirred by the concept of human absence and nature’s enduring presence, a narrative he is exploring through his established practice of 3D scanning. \nEcker’s work showcases a profound understanding of collaboration, materiality, and context. His adept translation of complex narratives into tactile experiences invites audiences to delve deeper into the intertwined realms of reality and virtuality. Through each project, Ecker continues to unveil layers of historical, societal, and ecological insights, binding the ephemeral with the eternal in a delicate artistic narrative. \nText by Mirela Baciak appointed director Salzburger Kunstverein \nCurriculum Vitae \nSerge Ecker \n[http://www.sergeecker.com/](http://www.sergeecker.com/) \n[https://luxartcontemporary.lu/category/serge-ecker/](https://luxartcontemporary.lu/category/serge-ecker/) \nmember of the DKollektiv artist collective (Dudelange) [www.dkollektiv.org](www.dkollektiv.org) \nBorn March 5th 1982 \nin Esch-sur-Alzette (Luxembourg) \nLives and works in Luxembourg \nProfessional experience \n2010- artiste indépendant \n2019- Lycée des Arts et Métiers, Luxembourg Intervenant externe Cours 3D DIANI \n2008-2018 Grid Design, Luxembourg \nCEO & creative director 2007-2008 Ballini, Pitt & Partners Architects, \nLuxembourg CG artist & graphic designer 2005-2007 Blanx 3D Animation Studio, \nCologne junior CG artist \nStudies \n2002-2005 BAC+3 Sup‘Infograph ESRA, Nice 2001-2002 1ère E LGE, Esch-sur-Alzette 1997-2001 Graphic Design LTAM, Luxembourg \nDiplomas 2005 \n2001 \nDiplôme de fin d’études Sup’Infrograph Bac+3 \nÉcole supérieure de réalisation audivisuelle \nDiplôme de technicien Section design Graphique Lycée des arts et métiers \nWorks in public and private collections (selection) \nMUDAM, Luxembourg IKOB, Eupen, BE \nFonds Kirchberg Luxembourg Kaunas District Municipality, LT \nAdministration des bâtiments publics Luxembourg \nMinistry of Cultu","cbCailZqVFnV4qlA","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCailZqVFnV4qlA","pdf",14695040,5,1,148,"English","en",105,"# Introduction\n## Artistic approach and themes\n## Selected projects and explorations\n# Curriculum Vitae\n## Education and professional experience\n## Collections and exhibitions\n# Installations and Sculptures\n## Installations (page 6-38)\n## Sculptures (page 41-80)\n# Textile and Photography\n## Textile (page 81-92)\n## Photography (page 93-108)\n# Annexes\n## Annex I: Texts (page 107-120)\n## Annex II: Press (page 121-148)","[{\"question\":\"What themes and methods define Serge Ecker’s work?\",\"answer\":\"His practice blends real and virtual through material-driven purpose, transforming digital information into physical forms.
