This programme will \nprovide 10 months supplementary academic support to high-achieving Year 12 (S5 – Scotland, Y13 – N. I.) students, with the aim of helping them achieve their full potential in their current studies and go onto make competitive applications to the University of Cambridge and other top universities. \nAs usual, the newsletter also contains a number of opportunities for students to get involved with this month from the wider University and beyond, as well as an important update about admissions assessments. \nNews, opportunities, and resources from Lucy Cavendish College \nLucy Cavendish College Academic Attainment Programme 2023-24 \nThe Lucy Cavendish College Academic Attainment Programme provides high-achieving Year 12 (S5-Scotland, Y13-N. I.) students with 10 months of comprehensive supplementary academic support tailored to their stage in the curriculum, giving them the best chance of achieving their full potential. \nStudents will participate in regular subject-specific enrichment classes in each of their core A-Level (Scottish Higher/IB) subjects, with the aim of strengthening their subject knowledge and building confidence in their current studies. In addition to these, students will attend monthly discussion groups to develop their oracy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. A range of subject taster sessions, alongside the completion of a Project, will allow students to explore their subject interests further and think more seriously about possible degree choices. Throughout, students will also receive advice from our Admissions Team on every stage of the application process so that they can make their university applications as competitive as possible. \nFind out more and apply by 9 October here. \nUniversity of Cambridge September Open Day \nCome and visit the University of Cambridge and its Colleges on 15 September, as we open our doors to give prospective applicants an insight into what it’s like to live and study here. With a focus on choosing your College, you’ll have the opportunity to visit Colleges and to ask current students and staff any questions you may have. \nLucy Cavendish College will be open from 9:30am-4:30pm. We will be running regular College tours, and you’ll also have the chance to speak to our student ambassadors about life at Lucy, and our Admissions Team about making a competitive application. We’d be delighted to welcome you to our friendly and forward-thinking College, so please do drop by to say hello! \nFind out more and book to visit the University of Cambridge here.
