This dissertation introduces three techniques combining machine learning with formal methods to detect or remediate access control issues in operating systems and cloud environments. ACHYB detects Linux kernel vulnerabilities via hybrid program analysis. TAC uses deep reinforcement learning and IAM modeling for greybox verification of cloud privilege escalations. IAMPERE applies graph neural networks and MaxSAT to automatically fix privilege escalations, with strong results on synthetic and real-world benchmarks.","Copyright by Yang Hu 2024 \n1 \nThe Dissertation Committee for Yang Hu certifies that this is the approved version of the following dissertation: \nSecuring Access Control Using Machine Learning and \nFormal Methods \nCommittee: \nMohit Tiwari, Supervisor Sarfraz Khurshid Kenneth McMillan \nChristine Julien \nVijay K.
