\n# neosletter\n\nDear Brooks, \n# SCP AND PAGANS TALK INBERKELEY\n\nJust wanted you to know the SCP Forum today wasvery helpful in opening up communication betveen mymother and me.She has now heard the whole gospeland my own testimony, and has shared her ownreligious experience with me.I can now pray moreeffectivelyfor her and can be honest about my fearsfor her in eternity. \nSCP has begun a series of Forums in Berkeley—shortevents where SCP researchers and people of non-Christianbeliefs interact in front of an audience.Forum I was afollow-up to the larger national Conference on Satanism andNeo-Paganism we sponsored in March of this year here inBerkeley. \nSeveral observers from the pagan community attended thenational conference.Neopagans often call themselves\"witches\"and refer to their beliefs as wicca or witchcraft. They believe that the old pagan world view of pre-ChristianEurope (belief in the divinity of the created order and ofnatural processes)holds an answer to the complex problemsof the twentieth century. \nThe pagans believe in calling down the power of the godsand goddesses for help in their daily lives. These are notdropouts,or people on the fringe of our society,as somemight like to think.Modern day wiccans are oftenprofessionals like computer programmers, psychologists, and university professors. \nAn estimated 2500-5000 pagans live in our area alone—thenine San Francisco Bay Area counties. \nOur first Forum was held on October 19 and featured adialogue between Don Frew,a member of the pagancommunity in Berkeley, and SCP co-founder BrooksAlexander. The funcion was helpful to many,as evidencedby this postcard received by Brooks a few days later: \nShe is too wrapped up in her goddess to respond to God,yeL,but today we have cleared the air of tension betweenus thanks to God and you all at SCP.We hope toattend your Forum in January. She also is going toread More than a Carpenter by Josh McDowell in orderto better understand me.Praise God!Thanks again—N.B. \nAn audio recording(two cassette tapes totalingapproximately two hours)of the Forum is available fromSCP for $8.00,postpaid.Please make checks payable toSCP and ask for the two-tape series entitled,Forum I:APagan/Christian Dialogue. \n# SCP ANNOUNCESPUBLICATION CHANGES\n\nIn an effort to communicate better with you,our friends andsupporters,SCP is
