It outlines selection criteria for paired GCSEs such as Further Maths, Physical Education, and Religious Studies, and covers PLUS subjects like Literacy and Numeracy PLUS. The document compares course structure, exam timing, number of papers, duration, and weekly teaching hours, and provides reasons to choose Triple Science such as deeper study and flexibility across tiers.","If you don ’t get your quest ion an swer ed ort hink of som et hin g else aft er t his session plea se \ndo n ot hesit at e t o em ail m e \n[gc odd @fit z wim ar c . com](gc odd @fit z wim ar c . com) \nWhat’s in the options booklet: Combined Science and Triple Science . \nLast year we took the decision to move Triple Science to a GCSE option in order to have more time to explore the breadth and depth of science . In order to take Triple Science, you will need to choose another option alongside it. (Triple Science PLUS) . \nWe have looked at other GCSEs that would be suitable for some of you to do in less time . There will be specific criteria for the other subjects that you choose with Triple Science , please look at the Options Booklet for specific detail: \n•GCSE Further Maths [ can only be selected with Triple Science] \n•GCSE Physical Education can be selected as an option on its own, or it can be selected with Triple Science \n•GCSE Religious Studies can be selected as an option on its own, or it can be selected with Triple Science . \n•Literacy and Numeracy PLUS can only be selected with Triple Science . \nOur r at ion ale behin d m ovin g t r iplescien c e t o t he opt ion blocks \n• Previously we were teaching triple science to just over half of the year group \n• We were teaching triple and combined science on the same number of hours (which is actually fits the combined science syllabus) \n• Therefore, we were very pushed to finish the course on time, so we cannot go into the depths that we would like for triple science \n• By putting it into the options block we will gain some additional hours and teach each subject 4 hours a fortnight, compared to 3 per \nfortnight we do now. \nAQA GCSE Combined Science: \nTrilogy \n• Students will gain two GCSEs at the end of the course \n• 6 exams in May/June of Year 11 \n• 2 exams per subject \n• Each paper lasts 1 hour 15 minutes and accounts for 16.7% of GCSE \n• 10 hours a fortnight in Year 10 and 9 hours a fortnight in Year 11 \nAQA GCSE Biology/Chemistry/Physics \n• Students will gain three GCSEs atthe end of the course \n• 6 exams in May/June of Year 11 \n• 2 exams per subject \n• Each paper lasts 1 hour 45 minutes and accounts for 50% of GCSE \n• 12 hours a fortnight in Year 10 and 11 􀃆 4 hours per subject \n• Reasons for choosing triple science: \n􀂾 You enjoy science \n􀂾 Want to learn science in more depth, e.g. Space (triple only unit) \n􀂾 You can sit higher (grade 4-9) or foundation (grade 1-5) tier in either course, however for combined every exam must be sat at the same tier, but with triple you can sit different tiers for each subject. \n􀂾 You want to study one (or more) of the sciences at A-Level (although you can still do this on combined) \n􀂾 You want to work in a science-based job in the future \n􀂾 You are interested in (and meet the criteria for) one of the PLUS options – further maths, RS or GCSE PE","cbCaiuCDICbex21R","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiuCDICbex21R","pdf",208860,1,6,"English","en",105,"# Options booklet overview\n## Triple Science PLUS subject combinations\n## Rationale for moving Triple Science into the options block\n## Course and assessment structure (Combined Science vs Triple Science)\n## Reasons to choose Triple Science","[{\"question\":\"What does choosing Triple Science involve at GCSE level?\",\"answer\":\"Triple Science requires selecting another option alongside it as part of the Triple Science PLUS combination.
