D. \nWorld Language Curriculum \nWorld Languages/ESL Program Philosophy: \nThe mission of the World Languages/ESL Program is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for them to function with competence and confidence in a language other than their own and to be able to interact and communicate with members of other cultures while gaining a greater understanding of and respect for the cultural perspectives, practices, and products of different countries. \nGOALS \nThe goals of the World Languages program are as follows: \nAll students will demonstrate command of the targeted language through written and oral communication. This means that all students will: \n Develop the ability to understand the spoken language; \n Communicate orally in the language; \n Develop the ability to extract and interpret information through reading; \n Develop the ability to communicate in writing; and \n Develop an appreciation for basic behavioral, cultural, and linguistic patterns of the language community, whether abroad or in the United States. \nAll students will recognize the interrelationship between language and culture for at least one world language other than English. \nThis means that all students will: \n Gain greater insight and appreciation for the English language and American culture through the study of another language; \n Understand how language works; \n Improves the ability to understand career opportunities related to the study of other cultures; \n4 \n And, gain greater personal satisfaction as a citizen of the world. \nComparing and contrasting language and culture promotes cross-cultural discourse, understanding, and appreciation for diversity. Thus, studying a foreign language provides students with insight into the lives and culture of other people, allowing them to focus attention on how language and culture interact. This interaction helps students reflect on cultural patterns. Through this reflection, they gain insight into their own language and culture and an understanding of the similarities and differences among cultures. This further allows them to frame thoughts and opinions while developing their own view of the world. \nAP Spanish Language and Culture \nTable of Contents \nCourse Overview ……………………………………………………………………………………………………… 7 \nCourse Objectives …………………………………………………………………………………………………… 9 \nOrganization …………………………………………………………………………………………………………… 10 \nTeaching Strategies …………………………………………………………….…………………………………… 10 \nScope and Sequence...................................................................................................... 13 \nTema 1-Las Familias y las Comunidades……………………………………………………… 13 \nTema 2-La Ciencia y la Tecnología………………………………………………………………. 15 \nTema 3-La Belleza y la Estética…………………………………………………………………… 17 \nTema 4-La Vida Contemporánea………………………………………………………………… 19 \nTema 5-Los Desafíos Mundiales…………………………………………………………………. 21 \nTema 6-Las Identidades Personales y Públicas…………………………………………… 23 \nSupplemental Materials ………………………………………………………………………………………….. 26 \nRubrics……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… 29 \nNew Jersey/","cbCaioo18IIqftpj","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaioo18IIqftpj","pdf",908668,38,"English","# Course Overview\n## Course Objectives\n## Organization\n## Teaching Strategies\n## Scope and Sequence\n## Tema 1-Las Familias y las Comunidades\n## Tema 2-La Ciencia y la Tecnología\n## Tema 3-La Belleza y la Estética\n## Tema 4-La Vida Contemporánea\n## Tema 5-Los Desafíos Mundiales\n## Tema 6-Las Identidades Personales y Públicas\n## Supplemental Materials\n## Rubrics\n## New Jersey/National Core Curriculum Content Standards Alignment","[{\"question\":\"What is the mission of the World Languages/ESL Program in this curriculum?\",\"answer\":\"The mission is to provide students the knowledge and skills to function with competence and confidence in a language other than their own and to communicate with people from other cultures while gaining respect for different cultural perspectives, practices, and products.\"},{\"question\":\"What goals are emphasized for students in the World Languages program?\",\"answer\":\"Students are expected to demonstrate command of the targeted language through written and oral communication, including listening comprehension, oral communication, reading interpretation, and writing.
