Between drawings? \nIt is often useful to show your plans, sections and elevations at the same scale, where possible, and to align them on the page. \n• Have you an appropriate amount of detail for the scale of the drawing? \nIf not, should you reduce the scale? Increase the scale? Add more detail? \n• Have you labelled the scales? \nEither in text (ie 1:50) or using a bar? \n• Have you used common scales? \nAvoid using strange scales like 1:300, or 1:1500, which an architect won’t be able to easily understand. \nRemember: \n• A scale ruler is yourfriend-you don’t have to do the calculations in your head every time. \n• Even if a drawing is to scale, adding drawn elements such as people, trees, furniture and vehicles can help us more quickly understand the scale and spatiality. \n• If you change the page size between A3 andA4, the scale change isn’t two times! \nresources by PORTICO.SPACE","cbCaiksyDpo0pLmA","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiksyDpo0pLmA","pdf",86566,"English","# SCALE GUIDE\n## Common scales by drawing type\n## SCALE CHECKLIST","[{\"question\":\"How does the guide connect drawing types to appropriate architectural scales?\",\"answer\":\"It lists common drawing types (e.g., location plan, site plan, floor plan, sections, elevations, room plans, and details) alongside scale progression examples to help choose the right ratio for each drawing purpose.\"},{\"question\":\"What are the key checklist questions for communicating a project with scale?\",\"answer\":\"The checklist asks whether you use an appropriate range of scales, choose scales matching drawing types, ensure readability between scales and drawings, and provide the right level of detail for the chosen scale.\"},{\"question\":\"Which scale practices does the checklist recommend to avoid confusion?\",\"answer\":\"It advises labeling scales (text like 1:50 or a bar), using common understandable scales, and avoiding unusual ratios such as 1:300 or 1:1500 that many architects may not interpret easily.
