These modules review the key skills that are tested on the SAT with a twopronged approach: \n1. Review the basics ofthe math skills required. \n2. Develop an understanding of the types of questions that are likely to occur on the SAT around these skills. \nIn this module there is a complete review of the topic of complex numbers. This module covers six key areas: \n1. Definition of an imaginary number \n2. Definition of a complex number \n3. Calculating the modulus of a complex number \n4. Adding and subtracting complex numbers \n5. Multiplying and dividing complex numbers \n6. Complex roots of quadratic equations \nM4M Classroom Teacher’s Guide \nStudents are given ample opportunities to review and test their understanding of the basics of these areas, before moving on to the more rigorous types of questions they can expect to see on the SAT. \nMake sure your students are familiar with these six topics. While there is plenty of opportunity for concept review, the key to succeeding on the SAT math section is to recognize that questions require a good grasp of the concepts. Reinforce to students this key point about SAT Math questions: \nThese questions do not test basic skills. Instead, they use basic skills to serve up more challenging questions. These questions don’t test skills, but rather a student’s ability to adapt knowledge to new situations in the form of a more rigorous test item. \nHow to Use This Module \nMake sure you have downloaded the “Getting Started with Media4Math Classroom” guide. That guide will walk you through the process of setting up a classroom group and assign the module to your students. \nUnlike the other modules in Media4Math Classroom, these SAT Math Prep modules are meant to be done over several class periods. There is a lot of content to review and it’s important that students pace themselves. \nNo student can complete one of these modules in one class period, nor would you want that to happen. When it comes to submitting their answers to the Module Assessment questions, students should wait until they’re ready to submit all the answers at one time and submit them at once. Since this module is completed over several class periods, students should keep notes of the answers they plan on submitting. This also gives them an opportunity to review their answers before submission. \nPart of preparing for standardized tests is getting your students accustomed to following the specific directions for completing these tests. With that in mind, have your students carefully read slides 2 and 3 of this module, which we reproduce here. \nM4M Classroom Teacher’s Guide \nStudents complete this module by submitting answers to questions on screens that are clearly labeled Module Assessment. Here is a sample from this module. \nNotice how the slide is clearly labeled Module Assessment. By submitting answers to this and the other Module Assessment questions, a student’s score for the module is calculated. Reinforce the following points to students: \n• Once you submit an answer, there’s no undoing it. So make sure you are clear on the answer choice. \n• Since the module is completed over several class periods, keep track of your answers in your notes. When you’re ready to submit all answers, go through the module and submit them one at a time. \nBreakdown of the Module \nAs noted earlier, the complete module consists of these six sections: \n1. Definition of an imaginary number \n2. Definition of a complex number \n3. Calculating the modulus of a complex number \n4. Adding and subtracting complex numbers \n5. Multiplying and dividing complex numbers \n6. Complex roots of quadratic equations \nM4M Classroom Teacher’s Guide \nThis section lists the components of each section. You’ll see similar components from one section to the next. \n\n| Section | Components |\n","cbCaiqNPN5l5Plhh","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiqNPN5l5Plhh","pdf",670957,"English","# Introduction\n## Module content overview\n## How to Use This Module\n# Breakdown of the Module\n## Definition of an imaginary number\n## Definition of a complex number\n## Calculating the modulus of a complex number\n## Adding and subtracting complex numbers\n## Multiplying and dividing complex numbers\n## Complex roots of quadratic equations\n# Additional Practice","[{\"question\":\"What topics does the Complex Numbers module cover for SAT Math Prep?\",\"answer\":\"It reviews imaginary number and complex number definitions, modulus calculation, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, and complex roots of quadratic equations.\"},{\"question\":\"Why is this module intended to be completed over several class periods?\",\"answer\":\"The module contains a lot of content, so students need time to review and practice while pacing themselves rather than finishing everything in one class period.\"},{\"question\":\"How should students submit answers to Module Assessment questions?\",\"answer\":\"Students should wait until they are ready to submit all answers, keep notes of planned answers while working across sessions, and then submit answers one at a time when ready.\"}]","SAT Math Prep - Complex Numbers - Teacher’s Guide - Module Overview | PDF"]
