What does SAT stand for? \nIt used to stand for Scholastic Aptitude Test that compared students nationally. It was changed to Scholastic Assessment Test and then just to SAT with no meaning what-so-ever. The SAT itself is used by the College Board and developed by Educational Testing Service. \n2. What does the SAT assess? \nReading, writing, and math. Each area has subsections, for example math will have problem solving, data analysis, algebra, and so on. To view a sample of the test click here. \n3. What’s a good score on the SAT? \nThe SAT score range is between 400 and 1600 for your total score, and 200-800 for each of your two subscores. There is a score for Math, and one for the combined Reading and Writing scores. The total score out of 1600 (as well as your two sections subscores out of 800) corresponds to a percentile ranking. The percentile tells you what percent of students you scored better than. So if you got a 60thpercentile score, you’ve scored better than 60% of all test-takers! The average score hovers around 1000 . The average score in each section is around 530-550. \n4. How will I know if my score is good enough to get into the college I desire? \nEach college is different. You will want to check the requirement or ask Ms. Price. Just in looking up MSU a student applying for admission would need a composite score of 1180 . It’s important to note that this is not an absolute. For example, this is from MSU admission: We estimate some students could be accepted with SAT's as low as 920. \n5. When is the SAT taken? \nIt is taken in the springtime. For a specific date, you will want to contact the school office.","cbCaioMfHM33tPsJ","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaioMfHM33tPsJ","pdf",36308,"English","# SAT Basics\n## What SAT stands for and who runs it\n## What the SAT assesses\n## SAT scoring and percentiles\n# Admissions and Test Timing\n## How to judge a score for a desired college\n## When the SAT is taken","[{\"question\":\"What does SAT stand for, and how did it change over time?\",\"answer\":\"SAT originally stood for Scholastic Aptitude Test.
