So, for forty years God allowed the Philistines to rule over them.  \nA married Israelite woman who had no children was living in the town of Zorah. One day, the angel of the Lord appeared to her. The angel said that even though she was barren, she would bear a son.  \nThe angel also told her to not drink strong drink, eat unclean food or cut the boy’s hair.  \nThe angel told her that from the day of his birth, the boy would be dedicated to God as a Nazirite and would rescue Israel from the Philistines.  \nLater, the woman did give birth to a son. She and her husband named him Samson. The boy grew, and God blessed him.  \nOne day, when Samson had grown to be a man, he traveled to Timnah, a Philistine city. There he saw a girl he wanted to marry, and when he returned home, he told his parents about her.
