The aim is to place random digits in strategic places to make two 2-digit numbers which multiply to get the closest possible answer to 2000.  \nLevel of difficulty: ❷  \nNumber of players: 2+  \nLearning: multiplication, estimation, rounding You will need  \n- a sets of digit cards (0-9) per player, or a set of playing cards with the face cards removed.  \n- a Game board for each player-cut out  \n- A calculator  \nInstructions  \n• Shuffle the sets of digit cards and place them face down in a pile.  \n• Player 1 takes a digit card from the pile. Player 1 then places the digit card on their number board to try to make a multiplication with a product close to 2000. Players will need to use their rounding, estimating and multiplying skills to work out the best place for each digit. Calculators are not available at this stage!  \n• All the remaining players then takes a digit card and places them on their boards to make a multiplication with a product close to 2000.  \n• Player 1 then takes a second card, and places on one of the remaining spaces on their number board.  \n• No player can move any digit card once they have placed it on their board.  \n• Once all the players have finished placing their 4 digits, each player works out their product using a calculator, and how close they are to 2000. To do this players have to work out the difference between their own product and 2000.  \n• The winner is the player who gets closest to a product of 2000.  \nVariations  \n• A player chooses the target number at the start of the game. The players both try to make a product as close to the target number as possible.  \n• Extended game: each player starts with 2000 points. Players deduct from their total the difference between 2000 and their product each round.
