under unprecedented pressure. Across the globe, and particularly within the South African education system, teachers are grappling with increasing workloads, emotional fatigue, and a growing sense of burnout. Studies show that high levels of stress are identified as one of the primary causes of teacher burnout, low engagement, job unhappiness, and high turnover rates (UNESCO IICBA et al., 2023). \nAs the Council, we understand that a healthy and happy educator will result in a more efficient and effective learning environment. It is against this background that the SACE, in collaboration with UNESCO IICBA, is commissioning a survey on mental health and Psycho-Social support. The survey aims to assist the Council in ascertaining the state of mental health support for educators within the South African Education system. The data gathered through this study will play a critical role in helping the Council fulfil its mandate, of “advising the Minister on matters relating to the education and training of educators”, as outlined in the SACE Act 31 of 2000, Section 5(b) \nWe invite you to participate in this important survey, which will help inform future policy aimed at promoting teacher professionalism, well-being and creating more resilient learning environments.
