CI, NO. 39 FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2026 FREE \nCYO Soccer Season Starts With Pep Rally \nLast Friday evening close to two hundred and fifty Blessed Trinity Parish children, their parents and grandparents came out to the Breezy Point ball field to celebrate the start of another CYO Soccer season with a high energy pep rally. The Blessed Trinity CYO which is one of the most successful CYO programs in the Diocese, kicked off with a speech from CYO Athletic Director Wayne Lizzi to the children assembled on the BT logo at centerfield. Wayne hammered home his 5 rules for the upcoming season; \\#1 Have Fun. \\#2 Play Fair. \n\\#3 Absolutely no hanging on thenet or using it like a jungle gym. \n\\#4 Leave the padding on the poles alone, don’t climb it and don’t rip it up. \\#5 Make sure you use the garbage cans provided at the filed for water bottles or whatever. Basically, respect our home field. Wayne then gave recognition to the three championship teams from last year. The Blessed Trinity Cheer Squad, the 5th Grade Girls Soccer Team and the 6th Grade Boys Soccer Team. \nFollowing Director Lizzi, Blessed Trinity Pastor Father Michael Gelfant gave a short prayer in which he implored the children to play with heart, sportsmanship and Christian values. He also officially announced that the “Father Falce Curse” will no longer be an al- \nlowable excuse to not bring home championships this year. \nAfter Father’s prayer the National Anthem was played and each of the individual soccer teams both boys and girls from clinic to 8th grade came running through finish line tape to the thunderous applause of \nthe crowd. Afterwards the children enjoyed snacks and drinks \nCoaches and parents are reminded that the Pointer will be glad to print (as space allows) brief recaps of each week’s games, but they must beemailed to editor@rpnewsonline. com by Tuesday evening at 8pm. \nPAGE 2 ROCKAWAY POINT NEWS FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2026 \nWELCOME TO THE WORLD!!! Case in point? Over a week ago, our lovely Governor Kathy Hochul was on the NY1 talk show “Inside City Hall” speaking about a myriad of issues, but one in particular caught my attention and instantly incensed me. She was opining about higher energy costs and said the following regarding the 2021 closure of the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant, “We lost 25% of New York City’s power when Indian Point shut down. That’s something that was unforeseen, nobody had a plan B. What are you supposed to do for power the next day?” \nExcuse me? That was unforeseen? It was very much forecasted and repeatedly reported, by me and anyone else with half a brain back then that when Governor Andrew Cuomo and you Lt. Governor Hochul shutdown the nuclear plant energy prices would skyrocket. We were told that we would soon have clean energy sources up and running, we don’t need a nuclear power plant anymore. How is that working out? As to nobody had a Plan B, Kathy you were the second in command for that decision so when you say nobody, don’t you mean I, or we had no Plan B? Are you now telling us that the question, “what are we supposed to do for power the next day?” was a shock to you? Of course, you knew that energy costs would spike","cbCaimDI5DHBP26l","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaimDI5DHBP26l","pdf",18771542,24,"English","# CYO Soccer Season Starts With Pep Rally\n## Welcome to the World!!
