Permits and/or professional installation may be required bylaw in your area. \nMake sure you have all of the required hardware included in your package: \nTools needed for installation (not included): \n 6mm masonry drill bit (optional) \n PH2 Phillips Screwdriver \nYour Video Doorbell Wired is designed to replace an existing doorbell button and gets its power from the doorbell system. Your Ring Doorbell is compatible only with existing doorbell systems that provide low voltage . If your existing doorbell system is at the doorbell or include a step down transformer to lower the voltage to then your system is not compatible with your Ring doorbell, and will need to be replaced with a Ring DIN Rail Transformer (2nd gen) by a qualified electrician. \nRing your existing doorbell and listen for the chime. If it rings, we know your existing doorbell system is working. When installed, your chime will no longer function, so you will need to use a Ring Chime or Alexa enabled speaker instead if you wish to hear the doorbell chime inside your home in addition to the doorbell chiming on your phone or tablet. \nFollow the sound to find your chime and make a mental note of the location. We'll return to your chime soon. \n: Don't have an existing doorbell? You can power your Video Doorbell Wired directly using our Plug-in Adapter. \nThis is essential to keeping you and your new Ring Doorbell safe during installation. If you're not sure which breaker controls your doorbell chime, turn off the master breaker for your home or contact an electrician. Press your doorbell button to verify the power for your doorbell is off. If the chime doesn’t sound, the power should be off. \n: CAUTION! You'll be working with electrical wires during the installation process. If you are uncomfortable or inexperienced with doing so, consult with a qualified electrician. \nThe Bypass Cable disables and isolates your existing doorbell chime. This is necessary for your Ring Doorbell to get the power it needs, but it means your chime will no longer ring. \nTo hear alert sounds throughout your home, you can add the Ring Skill to any Alexa enabled speaker, or add a Ring Chime to your system. \nAfter you've located your doorbell chime and turned off the power at the consumer unit, remove the cover from your chime and set it aside for now. \nIf your chime looks like the below (Commonly made by Deta or other manufacturers with volt-free designs) then your chime is not compatible, and will need to be replaced with a Ring DIN Rail Transformer (2nd gen) by a Professional Electrician or qualified person. \nIf your Chime is the type that is powered directly with 230V and include a step down transformer to lower the voltage to then your system is not compatible with your Ring doorbell, and will need to be replaced with a Ring DIN Rail Transformer (2nd gen) by a qualified electrician. \n: These steps are different based on whether your doorbell transformer is installed outside your chime, or inside your chime. \nTo identify this you will need to locate the transformer which is often installed in or near to your main electrical fuse board- it maybe labelled doorbell transformer and needs to be low voltage 8VAC-24VAC to power your new doorbell -once you have identified the transformer and confirmed it supports the correct voltage continue to bypassing the chime. If the transformer is not rated at 8VAC-24VAC it is not compatible with your new doorbell and you should consult a qualified electrician. \nYou may want to take a photo of your chime wiring before you begin, in case you ever want to restore it to normal. \nLook for terminal screws with wires connected. In order to provide power to your new doorbell we must bypass the wires that are connected either side of the doorbell mechanism; in the example below the terminals 0 and 3 are across the doorbell mechanism, terminals 1 and 2 in this ex","cbCaijnoQ1ZM9BBB","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaijnoQ1ZM9BBB","pdf",3190419,"English","# Compatibility and Requirements\n## Check your existing doorbell system voltage\n## Package hardware and tools\n# Power Off and Locate Components\n## Verify breaker control for the chime\n## Locate transformer and chime\n# Bypass and Wiring Steps\n## Use the bypass cable and connectors\n## Identify terminals across the doorbell mechanism\n# Chime and Alert Sound Options\n## Chime replacement or Ring Chime/Alexa speaker","[{\"question\":\"What type of existing doorbell system is compatible with Ring Video Doorbell Wired?\",\"answer\":\"It must come from an existing low-voltage doorbell system.
