With that, I am officially making a note that YES, in the beginning of Mallory’s story it is first person PRESENT TENSE and then it slides in and out of PRESENT and PAST tense. Shafts of light flow down from above me, dust motes filtering the view. Am I underground?  \nThe scent of sulfur, fresh turned dirt, and my own fear flood my nose, and coat the back of my throat.  \nThat same fear nips up my spine, quickening my breath, flooding my body with the urge to move, even while my body aches with each intake of air.
