Unless you have lived in the Warp for the past four years, you might have noticed the forum posts, flyers, AdeptiCon shirts and write-ups in Games Workshop’s White Dwarf magazine all covering this thing called AdeptiCon. \nIf you’ve never attended AdeptiCon, you’re probably asking,“What is with all the noise about AdeptiCon?” \nAdeptiCon began in 2003 as an idea, to create a unique gaming experience for Games Workshop hobbyists with an emphasis towards the veteran gamer. It is a Games Workshop tournament and hobby event unlike any other. \nEleven games of Warhammer 40K, eleven games of Warhammer Fantasy Battles, scores of hobby seminars, ample opening gaming, the Rogue Demon painting competition, and Loremaster knowledge contests all combined to keep even the most active gamer busy all weekend long. It’s a chance to meet old friends, make new ones, and test yourselves against some of the best in the nation and the world. \nIn short, AdeptiCon is the single greatest independent GW convention experience to be found anywhere. Over six hundred attendees from all over the globe took part in AdeptiCon 2006. Our largest tournament, the 40K National Team Tourney, had over 300 attendees participating. \nWith an all-volunteer staff, AdeptiCon strives to live up to it’s motto:“For Gamers, By Gamers.” Everyone involved with AdeptiCon, from the attendees to our dedicated staff, participates out of love of the hobby. \nWe hope that you enjoy this retrospective and we look forward to seeing you on March 30th-April 1st, 2007, at AdeptiCon 2007. \nSincerely \nThe AdeptiCon Executive Committee \nJeff Chua, Hank Edley, Matt Weeks \n[http://www.adepticon.org](http://www.adepticon.org) \nINTRODUCTION \nOn March 24th-26th, over six hundred Games Workshop hobbyists converged on the Chicagoland Schaumburg Marriot to attend what has become the “Can’t Miss” event of the year. Run by a dedicated all-volunteer staff, AdeptiCon strives to, in the words of Founder Jeff Chua,“…use the collective experience and wisdom of the veteran gaming community to organize and plan the best possible Games Workshop hobby experience.” \nFor three days, our tournaments, hobby seminars, and other special events all \ncontributed to creating a convention that lives up to our motto: “For Gamers, By Gamers” \nEvery AdeptiCon attendee received“The Kommandant” a limited edition figure sculpted by Golden Demon winner Jen Haley. \nAttendees also had the opportunity to bid on the silent Masterclass Auction, featuring our 2006 limited edition figure,“The Kommandant,” painted by some of the best-known names in the hobby. \nPainted by Mike Butcher \nPainted by Jérémie Bonamant Teboul \nPainted by Terry Peterson \n[http://www.adepticon.org](http://www.adepticon.org) \nWH40K GLADIATOR \nOn Friday, March 24th, AdeptiCon 2006 opened the weekend with two of our AdeptiCon signature events, the Warhammer 40K Gladiator tournament, and the Warhammer Fantasy Battles Escalation tournament. Both the 40K Ballroom and the Fantasy Pavilion saw hobbyists bring out their best in heated competition. \nCompetitors in the AdeptiCon 2006 40K Gladiator tournament brought 2000 points of their army of choice to claim the title of 40K Gladiator Champion, and incidentally win the largest prize AdeptiCon has ever offered for a single event – a 1700-point Elysian Drop Troops army provided by ForgeWorld. \n120 attendees brought their A-game – but only one would walk away the champion. \nThe number one rule of the 40K Gladiator is simple: “No Whining.” Almost anything with currently published rules is allowed, and painting and sportsmanship are judged on a “pass/fail” system. \nFlyers, super-heavies, and monstrosities all came out to play, as many attendees took advantage of the opportunity to field rarely-used items from their coll","cbCaigRVmlCzvAyy","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaigRVmlCzvAyy","pdf",10682565,36,"English","# INTRODUCTION\n# WH40K GLADIATOR\n## WH40K GLADIATOR (Saturday–Sunday overview)\n# WFB ESCALATION","[{\"question\":\"What is AdeptiCon, and what made it stand out in 2006?\",\"answer\":\"AdeptiCon is a Games Workshop tournament and hobby event focused on an engaging convention experience for hobbyists, especially veteran gamers, supported by an all-volunteer staff and community participation.\"},{\"question\":\"Which major Warhammer events were featured during AdeptiCon 2006?\",\"answer\":\"The retrospective highlights the Warhammer 40K Gladiator tournament and the Warhammer Fantasy Battles Escalation tournament, along with additional hobby seminars, competitions, and special events.\"},{\"question\":\"What were the rules and scoring style for the 40K Gladiator tournament?\",\"answer\":\"The 40K Gladiator emphasizes “No Whining,” uses an allowed-rules approach with pass/fail painting judgment, and recognizes competitive performance across multiple rounds until a new champion is crowned.\"}]","RETROSPECTIVE - AdeptiCon 2006 | PDF",1791341252,55]
