More specifically,this invention provides aresin composition for powder coating of linear low-densitypolyethylene,which forms coating films having excellent gloss.  \nPage 3  \nThe powder coating has many advantages as follows:  (1)itdoes not employ any dangerous solvents as compared with the  \nconventional solvent coating,(2)coating efficiency is high,and  \n(3)a thick film coating is possible by a single application.There are many thermoplastic and thermosetting resins suitablefor powder coating.  Among those,the low-density polyethylenehas good chemical resistance,durability,and such flexibilityas to give it a hard wax-like feel,and it is inexpensive.  Also,its application is easy,and has good coatability on sharpedges.  Therefore,it has been utilized as a coating film fordish and bottle racks,refrigerator shelves,baskets,fences,and tubes for bicycles and breeding [sic].  \nSince low-density polyethylene produced by the high pressureprocess,which is also called branched low-density polyethylene,has large,long-chain branchings,such branchings hinder thecrystallinity and lead to poor stress cracking resistance,impactresistance,and heat resistance.  Particularly when coated onlarge flat surfaces,does the drawback of stress cracking arise.Therefore,its uses are greatly limited.  Meanwhile,linear low-density polyethylene developed in recent years has less andshort-chain branchings.
